“Nice is nice,” says Circa owner/chef
So here’s to nice, and here’s to Circa, which is celebrating its second anniversary, Thursday, August 27th, with a special dinner and art auction.
Proceeds from the event will go to Help the Least of These, a charity founded by Memphians to serve the poor in Africa. “We wanted to bring something else to it,” says Bragg, “rather than just pat ourselves on the back.”
According to Bragg, last year’s first anniversary party drew about 400 and he’s expecting the same. Those attending will be greeted with live music, cocktails, and appetizers, starting at 6 p.m.
The dinner is a more intimate affair, limited to 50 seatings, starting at 8 p.m. The three-course menu includes a choice of beef tenderloin, trout Grenobloise, or Ashley Farms roast chicken for entrees and choice of crème brulee, lemon tart, or the Il Diplomatico for dessert.
The dinner is $90. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 522-1488.
Prior to opening Circa, Bragg helmed the reopening of La Montagne and the opening of River Oaks. Circa, he says, was the next evolution. “I wanted to make classic, gourmet French-type food approachable, to make it comfortable.”
