Farmer Carl Wayne Hardeman worked for five years to get the Collierville Farmers Market off the ground. It opened July 2nd, and there's now a waiting list for the 14 vendor spots.

The market, held just off the town square is open Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday's hours will change in two weeks. The market will open later, at 9:30 a.m. in effort to lure more customers. According to Bridget Adams-Ely, a spokesperson for the market, Thursday's market draws about 1,500, while Saturday's draws between 800-900.

Vendors change from week to week, depending on who's available. There's a ton of organic produce and locally sourced honey.

The market will be open through October.

The Collierville Farmers Market is wonderful!! The vendors are so friendly to my kids and the way it is set up is very convenient and welcoming. The volunteers are great and have done a great job! Come and run through real quick to buy what you want, or take your time, buy lunch on the square and enjoy the day there! I highly recommend making this a part of your weekly to-do's!

The CFM is awesome and is growing with more vendors to accommodate customers' needs! The opening time has changed however, it is open on Thursday from 8am-1pm at the Collierville United Methodist Church on Poplar now. Can't wait to see everyone!
