Happy World Vegetarian Day!

Posted by Susan Ellis on Thu, Oct 1, 2009 at 11:59 AM

October 1st is World Vegetarian Day, kicking off Vegetarian Awareness Month.

One of my favorite vegetarian dishes in Memphis is Shang Hai's tofu pad prik.

I'm also a big fan of:

Casa Grill's falafel hummus platter — simple flavors and a classic

Boscos' black bean and goat cheese tamale — the only place in town I know of that serves a non-meat-filled tamale. Am I wrong?

Kooky Canuck's veggie burger — the patties (2!) are a little crispy. A good hearty burger.

India Palace's palak paneer — really all the vegetarian options on the buffet are good, but this creamy dish is my favorite.

I'm really only scratching the surface here. What are some of your favorites?

I keep meaning to try the live burger at Sean's, but can never resist the falafel.

My favorite lemongrass tofu is Pho Vietnam.

Molly's has fabulous hand rolled vegetarian tamales. My favorite is the black bean/mushroom tamale with ranchero sauce. Yum!

Thanks for the heads-up, FF. I'll definitely try it.
