Slashfood.com recently posted about Nick Rogers' film In Queso Fever, which explores Arkansas' special ties to cheese dip and makes the point that the food-stuff isn't that widespread in other parts of the country.

Could it be true?

When I moved to Kentucky and realized the closest thing they had to Pancho's style dip was Beer Cheese Dip, I cried. When I relocated to North Carolina and they didn't have even that, I moved.

Instead of public option, should we be thinking public cheese dip?

I love loaded nachos with Rotel dip served on top, THEN shredded cheese. It is the ultimate flavor-fest. I had no idea Arkansas was so tied in to it's history. Makes me feel like doing a road trip to see what kinds I can find across the bridge.

When I was a kid, Pancho's cheese dip was like McDonald's french fries for me.
