March 15th marks the 40th anniversary of Huey's, and let's face it, Memphis would be less Memphis-y without the Huey Burger.
But while today is the day, the big party is April 18th at the original Huey's at 1927 Madison.
The celebration will include live music by the Settlers (late Huey's owner Thomas Boggs was in the band), Funk de Ville, DiAnne Price & Her Boyfriends, and the Soul Shockers.
A portion of the proceeds from day's sales goes to the Church Health Center.

Hueys, while still fair, is getting more and more corporate and less and less 'Memphis'. With Thomas' passing and the Sheffields selling their interest to the Bogg's I expect this unfortunate evolution to continue.
As a native Memphian, I was a lifelong Huey's customer and devotee. My boy's, now in their 30's. grew up shooting frill pics @ the ceiling, and usually landing one in someone's plate. Errant frill pics landing in your food was just as normal as was the fact that PBR on tab was the beer. I've been gone from MEM for 6 years and I prefer to remember Huey's as it was, not as it has devolved, TOO "Coprorate", a real shame. Hope Broadway Pizza doesn't follow!
Good burgers, bad service. I stopped going because I got tired of waiting 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge me - and then another half hour or more to get my food.
