The Commercial Appeal broke the story earlier today that Kroger would be acquiring eight area Schnucks.
Kroger issued its official statement this afternoon. All of the stores acquired, including the Midtown Schnucks, will be converted into Krogers.
Kroger's official statement follows:

Chef Michael Patrick, recently of Mesquite Chop House, is taking over the Harry's Detour space on G.E. Patterson downtown.
Patrick plans to use his fine-dining background to create upscale diner fare. The name of the restaurant will be Rizzo's Diner.
He's shooting for a mid-September opening.
In other downtown restaurant news, Downtown Dining Week returns November 14th-20th.
