It's one of my favorite lunch restaurants; I eat there at least once a week. It's also my restaurant of choice to go to alone and hide out and read (those days I'd sooner kill someone than have to talk to them). I always eat in the bar area and I love the cobb salad. Hamburger is out of this world too.
I opted for the vegetable plate (pictured at top; $10). This is a choice of three from the sides, among them petite salad, grilled squash, spicy slaw, collard greens, and buttermilk mashed potatoes. I got the brussel sprouts, field pea succotash, and cheese grits (because I have to get the grits).
Loved the brussel sprouts— cooked just enough, nice bit of salt. The succotash was great too — creamy, a bit of peppers. The grits were good as well, though not so cheesy.
While I was in the area, I stopped by Cosmic Coconut for their signature drink, the Cosmic Coconut with frozen pineapple and banana and coconut meat and juice ($4.99 for 9 oz.). Delicious.
I saw this contraption and had no idea its purpose.
The woman behind the counter told me it was a juicer and then she noticed that someone had put the leg in it for a bit of Halloween flair.
