Last Monday at lunchtime, I lucked into a parking place just a block away from Front St. Deli and I was thinking about that egg salad sandwich ($3.95) I was going to order.
My reverie was interrupted briefly when I thought to myself, They don't take cards, do they? And then I assured myself that, Of course, everybody takes a credit or debit card.
Front St. Deli does not, indeed take cards. They do, however, accept cash and checks. It's a long story* why I had neither cash nor checks on me. The owner very kindly told me to pay him back later and let me take my sandwich.
(I wasn't that embarrassed by the situation, but it did remind me of the old YM feature Was My Face Red — scroll down.)
So, finally, this morning, I repaid my debt and picked up this gloriously messy egg and cheese biscuit ($1.75).
And while I might have had deficient funds on that day ($3), I can't think of a place in the neighborhood that is as reasonable as Front St. Deli.
*This long story involves Kroger, a lost checkbook, 14 business days, the United States Post Office, and, as much as I hate to mention it on a food blog, open sores.
