During yesterday's almost-aborted committee meeting about MSARC, the Mid-South Peace & Justice Center was passing out a map of reported rapes in the city of Memphis during roughly the last month.
The data came from MPD's crime-mapper. During the month, there 24 rapes, with
the majority the plurality of them occurring in council woman Barbara Swearengen Ware's district, or district 7.
The purple line separates super district 8 from super district nine. (Super district 8 includes Ware's, Edmund Ford Jr's, Wanda Halbert's and Harold Collins' districts.)
On a related, but unrelated note, it's been a while since I've seen BSW. She certainly wasn't at this committee meeting yesterday.
Also, I don't know if I made this clear in my last post about MSARC, but if you know of a juvenile who has suffered a possible sexual assault, I don't think Le Bonheur is doing victim exams yet. Though the mayor announced the partnership between MSARC and Le Bonheur Monday, the specifics have not yet been worked out, and it seems those victims should still go to MSARC.
