Fullilove: "I'm stupid."

Posted by Mary Cashiola on Wed, Jul 8, 2009 at 3:29 PM

Yesterday, the City Council's budget committee discussed a resolution to encourage the Board of Equalization to consider foreclosures and bank sales on home values.

The move, proposed by councilman Kemp Conrad, was delayed by the committee but was meant to make sure that residents weren't paying property taxes on inflated home values.

"Especially in these hard hit areas, you have a lot of homes that are selling for a lot less, but the assessor, by state law, can't take those into account," Conrad said.

During this discussion, council woman Janis Fullilove wanted additional clarification. But, oh, Janis, did you have to preface it with this?

Wow! She had a moment of clarity and finally figured it out! Way to Janis! We've been telling you the same thing for years now.
