MAD AS HELL: Not for All the Tea in Tennessee...

That Glory Train, The Tea Party Express, has pulled into the station. For the next three days, Opryland is The Promised Land. After a series of rallies throughout the past year that looked like they were made for a Quentin Tarantino movie, Tea Party Nation is throwing a convention in Nashville. The love-in has begun. Or has it?

All the usual suspects have shown up. The Beckers, the Birthers, the Dittoheads, and their like minded posses of racists, xenophobes, homophobes, and other sundry phobic gangs in Winger World. And then there are the pro-lifers—who advocate for “justifiable” murder because it “saves innocent life which begins at the moment of fertilization.” Go figure.

According to recent reporting by the New York Times, and other media, there is trouble brewing in Tea Bagger Paradise. It seems as though the organizers who are charging $550 a pop to attend right wing fantasy weekend have chapped a few butts and raised more than a few eyebrows. Tension has mounted in the last couple of weeks, and while the rest of us are deciding between the Colts and the Saints, the Tea Baggers have been feuding like the Hatfields and the McCoys.

And it’s not just over money. Splintering and splitting is occurring over political identity. Libertarian factions who want a smaller government that stays out of personal life choices are sparring with religious groups who want a big government that uses its power to discriminate against people they don’t like.

Last week, Representatives Michele Bachman of Minnesota and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee both canceled appearances. No one in their camps are really explaining their sudden and last minute decisions as no-shows, although Blackburn reportedly felt that Tea Party brass had put guest speakers in an awkward position by extending an invitation to a for-profit convention.

Last minute switcheroos have also been made by several organizations who were expected to attend. Most notably canceling was a nativist group known as FAIR (for the Federation for American Immigration Reform). FAIR withdrew suddenly this week over concerns about the for-profit status of the convention organizers and the possibility of convention money flowing into unknown campaign coffers. The nativist slot is meanwhile being filled by a group known as NumbersUSA, founded by John Tanton, a retired Michigan eye doctor who’s written that to maintain American culture “a European-American majority” is required. The current head of NumbersUSA, Roy Beck, has made speaking appearances at the national conference of the white nationalist Council of Conservative Citizens.

But alas, there is that certain someone who will stop the bickering, however momentarily, and turn those sour grapes into red-state communion wine. She is the real reason most showing up have made their pilgrimage. They have come to honor their Madonna —The Lady of Perpetual Paranoia—-Saint Sarah of Alaska. She will reportedly receive $100,000 for her appearance and clearly, some in TPN are annoyed and have questioned the steep price tag. However, when Sarah shows up, merrily pouring verbal gasoline and lighting her book of matches by declaring that those in attendance are just like her—- misunderstood and disrespected Put-Upons who are picked on by a country full of “socialist” elites who don’t know what it’s like to live in the “real America”, she will wink her way right into their hearts. And their wallets.

this whole event would be funny if it weren't so embarrassing - on so many levels. the "tea partiers" are all over the map with phony ideals. meanwhile, republican consulting firms, tea party nation, inc. and sarah palin are all laughing their asses off - all the way to the bank.

Hell, old Todd may be dumb, but he ain't stupid. With the Little Woman out there raking in millions by pumping her book with six-figure speeches and some fancy pageant walking, it's all good. No wonder he's always got that silly grin on his face.

Mickey should get someone to program his computer to do that cut-n-paste job for him. Then he could sleep late.

Is the Flyer sending anyone up there with press passes? I'll bring the Kool Aid if you can get me one too.

Hey Mickey, could you at least change it up a bit every so often? Please?

As for the TPN (that made me laugh) and Saint Sarah of Alaska (which made me laugh even harder) they are a disparate group that truly has no direction except that the current administration is socialist.

The latest report is that St. Sarah is "donating" her speaking fee to TPN. That's like a bank robber "donating" his haul back to the bank.

As for Todd, you've gotta give him credit: he's obviously got no gender identity issues. Of course, it helps that Caribou Barbie emasculated him long ago, and had the same taxidermist who stuffs and mounts her other trophies do the same things to Todd's "family jewels."

Mad_merc, sure:
Tennessee Congressman Marsha Blackburn (7th District Representative, Republican), wants to look beyond current issues towards new structures and forms of cooperation between the European Union and the United States.

Yes, my fellow Americans, my congressman is not only promoting the Transatlantic Partnership, she is a Member. Does she represent the Constitution and We the People, or does she represent the European Union ?

Why isn’t the News media covering this?

What is the TPN? TPN has been created to promote a strong and stable partnership between the US and Europe, to influence its priorities and help to drive its development. It is a transatlantic “network of networks” whose membership is a unique blend of business, political and academic experience.

Man, I wish Marsha would READ the United States of America’s Constitution.

POLITICAL SUPPORT– The European Parliament has voted resolutions in May 2004 and in January 2005 in which the concept of completing the transatlantic market by 2015 is supported. Furthermore, the Parliament also agreed that the transatlantic partners should update the 1995 New Transatlantic Agenda, replacing it with a ‘Transatlantic Partnership Agreement”. These ideas were further endorsed in reports by Elmar Brok MEP and Erika Mann MEP approved by the European Parliament in May 2006. (This line of approach has also been supported by Francisco Millán Mon’s report - March 2009).The US House of Representatives has also passed a resolution endorsing the concept of a “Transatlantic Partnership Agreement” between the EU and the US.
BUSINESS SUPPORT – Leaders of the Transatlantic Business community were present at the launch of the Strategy Document. They have consequently endorsed the idea of a Barrier Free Transatlantic Market and continue to work towards the removal of all barriers to trade and investment. Their reports to the US-EU Summit held in Vienna in June 2006, Washington in 2007, and Ljubljana in 2008 have clearly endorsed this strategic objective.
Given this basis, the President of the European Council at the time, Angela Merkel, launched the concept of the transatlantic market in 2007 during the early stages of the German Presidency of the EU. This resulted in the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC) being set up at the EU-US Summit in April 2007. This body now handles a wide range of issues of vital importance to transatlantic business.

So Marsha Blackburn wants to have the transatlantic market in place by 2015, she wants a Transatlantic Assembly (like Parliament), and she (of-course) wants to give them hundred of BILLIONS in foreign aid to strengthen the Transatlantic Monetary cooperation and Transatlantic Capital Market.

Terrific article and accurate insights. This will likely be remembered as the beginning of the end of the Tbugers. They are already starting to turn on one another due to their acute paranoia and victimhood. What makes me laugh is the overwhelming whiteness of their kind, and for white people to feel disenfranchised and victimized in the U.S. is hilarious. The majority of the time, white folks in America who fail or are victimized should look in the mirror to see who caused their problems. But all the Tbuger can do is assign blame for their troubles.

Blackburn needs to go home to Brentwood. Greg Rabidoux is a MUCH better person that would actually REPRESENT us. www.rabidoux4congress.com He needs our full support!

Thanks Mickey. However I have to point out the "TPN" in this article was a reference to "Tea Party Nation" a take off of Red Sox Nation and other such sports teams broad fan bases across the country. Thanks again for the new post.

I'm with southern yankee--Marsha Blackburn has been an extremist divisive disaster for us. Can't think of a single piece of legislation she's written that's passed. Of course, she doesn't care about jobs or healthcare or national security; she just writes goofy stuff to placate her base. (like the birther bill). For Heaven's Sake, vote for someone who will represent ALL the people---after all, it is the "PEOPLE'S HOUSE". That person would be Greg Rabidoux. Check him out and send MONEY. It takes more than good looks and brains to beat Marsha. www.rabidoux4congress.com.
Good government is not extreme in either direction, takes into account the views of all.

Dr. Greg Rabidoux is a professor of Constitutional Law, so that ought to make Mickey happy. LOL

so people who have been TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY are not only spending 550 bucks a ticket and paying PALIN 100,000 bucks but going on cruises to support the idea that they don't have enough money? reality check, if you were as taxed as you think you wouldn't be able to afford any of those things.
