That video started to pick up steam roughly a year later and is now up to over 1.6 million views, with an additional 200,000 views for a video filmed by local director Joe Gotti, which was posted this summer.
Earlier this year, Trip signed a deal with an imprint of Interscope Records and his push from the label will start with the official release of a new version of "Letter to My Son" featuring one of pop and hip-hop's biggest current stars, former Goodie Mob rapper and Gnarls Barkley crooner turned solo hitmaker Cee-Lo Green.
"I added a new hook to the song and we got Cee-Lo to be on it," Trip said this morning, preparing for a video shoot tomorrow in Los Angeles with Cee-Lo. "This is going to be the first thing Interscope really gets behind."
Trip says he expects the new video and single for "Letter to My Son" to be out before Christmas, with his debut album — Help is On the Way — to hopefully follow in the first quarter of next year.
