Yet a recent meeting of Nashvilles Downtown Partnership included Memphian John Dudas, vice president and director of strategic planning for Belz Enterprises, which has done much to put Memphis downtown on the map. Speaking in a panel discussion, Dudas pointed out that some cities are hurt by thir own success, drawing more restaurants and bars than other types of retailers. But NDPs director Tom Turner acknowledged that Nashville's downtown has a bigger problem. A lack of, well, people. Were not even close to where we need to be, Turner said. He's got that right.
