You see, according to Drudge, the people with those cards could go to Radio Shack and reprogram them (if they knew the program), then they could come back and vote again. Thereby adding 12 illegal votes to the total. Drudge doesn't realize that's not the way it works in Shelby County. We just use dead people. Much more efficient.
For what it's worth, in the 40 minutes your Buzz correspondent waited in the voting lines yesterday, THREE people walked out absent-mindedly with their cards. Poll workers in all three cases retreived the cards from the votes before they left the building. And in all three cases, the voters seemed to be merely forgetful and thoroughly innocent of nefarious intent.
Now, if 12,000 cards were missing, it might be reason to worry.
