Peabody and Children's Museum Team Up

Posted on Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 4:00 AM

In an odd bit of synergy, the Peabody Hotel and the Children's Museum of Memphis have joined forces. Museum staff and volunteers will now wear Peabody doormen uniforms when greeting visitors.

From the press release issued by the museum:

"The Peabody Hotel has teamed up with The Children’s Museum of Memphis to offer a 'touch of class' to the museum’s already stellar customer service! The Peabody has provided the museum with an official hotel doorpersons outfit – vest, hat and jacket. The museum will now have staff and/or volunteers wearing the outfit and getting the door for visitors each weekend, during special events and the summer months when so many out-of-town visitors come to our city. The visitors with strollers really appreciate the help!

"'This adds a touch of class to the museum’s customer service,' stated Richard C. Hackett, the museum’s chief executive officer. 'It shows our guests that they are special to us. It also shows them that The Peabody Hotel is an icon that cares about being involved in the Memphis community.'

This business partnership between The Peabody Hotel and CMOM is a way for the hotel to promote itself to the nearly 45,000 tourists that visit the museum each year (total annual attendance is approximately 150,000). The red, black and grey doorpersons uniform is very smart and classy, like everything The Peabody Hotel is involved with. It would make an excellent and colorful photo opportunity for the media!
