Showtime at the Apollo Auditions

Posted on Fri, Jan 12, 2007 at 4:00 AM

What do Sammy Davis Jr., Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Gladys Knight, Bill Cosby, and you have in common. If you win a spot on Showtime at the Apollo at auditions being held in Memphis this Sunday, January 14th, you’ll join that celebrated crew as entertainers who got their start at the famous Harlem theater.

The auditions are being held at The Stax Museum of American Soul Music from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Sunday. Auditions are on a first come, first served basis, and the call is open to singers, dancers, musicians, and comedians of all ages. Singers can bring a track or sing a capella, musicians need to bring their own instruments, and dancers need to supply their own cassette or CD. Comedians are encouraged to refrain from profanity. All contestants are given up to 90 seconds to wow the judges.
