Al Kapone, Craig Brewer, and Friends Run Up a $1,300 Dinner Tab

"The second budget item that Bennett was asked about was an expense listed on state accounts as a dinner with Hustle and Flow movie director Craig Brewer and the rapper Al Kapone. The reason for the dinner, according to documents filed by Bennett with the state, was: 'Discussed Memphis film wins and broadcast critics award.' No other names were listed on the expense report. The evening's final tally: $1,338.79."

A $1,300 tab run up by David Bennett, ousted executive director of the Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission, helped lead to his dismissal by the Bredesen administration. But Bennett says everything was on the up and up, there were 13 people present, and he split the tab with the Memphis Film Commission. Maybe so, but you gotta admit, that must have been a helluva feast.
