Memphis Teen Wins Over Crowd at The Apollo

Posted By on Tue, Apr 10, 2007 at 4:00 AM

Memphis native Alexis Roberson recently performed on Showtime at the Apollo, the famous Harlem-based talent show where legends are made. She competed against six others, including a born New Yorker, and still moved the famously hard-to-please audience to give her its rowsing approval.

Roberson auditioned for the show at the Stax Museum in January and they accepted her on the spot. The kicker? She’s only 15 years old.

The Jackson Sun posted an interview with Robinson, in which she discusses her loud voice, her admiration for her grandparents, her love of music, and her passion for law. Robinson also mentions her plans to participate in Miss Teen USA.

Her performance airs on May 5th.
