"While Shelby County has not reported a swine influenza case, we want everyone to be in full prevention mode," said Shelby County Mayor A C Wharton, "This means following good hygiene practices to include the simple task of repeatedly washing your hands and if you are feeling sick with flu-like symptoms, stay at home."

Paige, I'm hearing the same thing. My coworker was so sick about 10 days ago, he stayed in bed for 2 straight days, and that is so not like him. And earlier this year, I had something that hit me like a bomb - started that morning on the way to work with a slight headache, by lunch time I was so stopped up, my eyes were crossing. I went home and went to bed, and I never go to bed sick like that. I didn't even go to bed when I had pneumonia a few years ago.
I think this flu has been around for months, and the only reason we're hearing about it is because they've identified it.
Mayor Wharton is correct. I am hoping that where I work, they'll put out a notice saying that if you feel sick - stay home. Not voluntarily stay home - mandatory. And managers who notice workers who are sick should send those people home immediately, then Lysol and Clorox-Wipe their work area.
What is WRONG with us? How can we be the second most dangerous city in America if we can't even get a spot on the swine flu list?
C'mon folks, let's work harder at this.
I'd be interested to read a follow up to this, when did it did it finally first appear in the county?
