The national search is over and Ned Canty has been hired as the new General Director for Opera Memphis. Canty replaces Michael Ching who retired from the position earlier this year.
Canty has directed for the New York City Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Glimmerglass Opera and Santa Fe Opera. His work had been described by the New York Times as having "a startling combination of sensitivity and panache."
