last June, Samuel L. Jackson will star as Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis playwright Katori Hall's Olivier-winning play The Mountaintop.

This isn't the first time that Jackson, a Chattanooga native, has taken on material by a Memphis writer. He co-starred with Christina Ricci in Craig Brewer's Black Snack Moan.

"The Mountaintop" begins preview performances on September 22 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and is scheduled to open on October 13. Tickets are not yet available.
