disappointing to me
Allison Huber (Florence) was amazing in this production. Jacob Allen (Freddie) an assistant professor in the theatre department, should not be allowed to sing on stage and Lucas Hefner (Anatoly) is only good for song. Maggie Robinson (Svetlana) has an amazing voice and Zachary El-Oqlah (Molokov) played his part well. The support roles were effectively played and the cast should be proud of their work. The production crew, excluding sound manager, also a great job.
However, by the end of the play I was furious at having been held captive for over three hours. Anytime the company sang (or Jacob) I wanted to rip my ears off my head. I'm not sure who decided it was a good idea to do a three hour production in the main stage theatre (with no concessions) but they should rethink their career. The students that performed were amazing but they fall victim to poor script choice and bad sound managing throughout the play.
My advice: If you plan to attend this play, I strongly recommend pretending the intermission is the end and leave at that point.
I just did not enjoy this play. I stuck it out because I had to for a class, but half the audience walked out at intermission. I feel like I wasted $20.
The picture of the red headed girl in the red mask is a photo of a girl from up north who was not at MidSouthCon and has never been to MidSouthcon. Why was it used for this article?
