We moved to Michigan many years ago. I still come back here when I visit relatives each year. I am totally addicted to the wonderful catfish! Good portions, fresh and crispy. Service is always wonderful. It can be a busy place at times, but you always feel welcome in a comfortable, down-home sort of way. :-)
This club is ok on the most part. What I didn't like was the waitress hitting on my boyfriend the whole night. We weren't even at a table, WE WERE AT THE BAR. Very unprofessional, but what do you expect, right? How about a little descent RESPECT!!!!!
If you are into nursing home crowds then this is the place to go. I have been 3 times and the same crowd is there every week. Drinks not great and the food needs some TLC.
In my opinion, this is the gastropub concept done right. That is, create a great bar first. Check. Even without a menu, this would be one of the best bars in town. Solid wood, dim lighting, heavy on the liquor, plenty of chalkboard cocktail and beer specials, and bartenders who are more like pro drinkslingers than maƮtre d's.
Then, create a simple bar menu that doesn't try to be too clever. One that, instead of laboring to impress me with its cute, creative, heavy-handed versions of traditional bar fare, takes traditional bar fare and knocks it out of the park. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for a fancy grilled cheese with pancetta and goat cheese and white truffle garlic pomme frittes. But sometimes I just want a *really freakin' great grilled cheese.*
Bardog seems way more concerned with delivering the latter, and less with putting their special little cheffy stamp on every dish. Example: their French fries. Potatoes. Oil. Salt. No fancy spices, no flavored drizzles, no pretense. And yet, best fries in Memphis. Try them and see if I'm nuts.
Way to go, Bardog.
ps. Minus one-star for the smokiness that sometimes makes the place semi-uninhabitable on weekend nights. But whatever. I'll get over it. It's a bar.
great music,. and best long island ice tea in town
If you got a good laugh out of Paul P. telling people to "red a good book" then come get more delicious irony at a Wiseguys show.
A fun bar with a restaurant quality menu. I have been pleasantly surprised by the menu items, much better than the typical pub grub one has come to expect when going to bars. Great atmosphere and tons of live music. Service is always great.
It's a bar and it's a fun bar. The staff is great. Fun place to hang out.
I love eating at this Hueys. The service has always been really good and the food is great! I highly recommending eating here!
Open Mic Night on Tuesdays, Anymore??
Best blues on Beale Street. "Dr. Feelgood", James Potts, is the man...good harmonica, good blues, good band. Go and you will be glad you did. Saw them on two different trips in '08. Headed back the 200 miles from Indiana to Memphis this coming weekend 10/16/09. Big V.
For Beal street food, its very very good. I can not be complety objective as my meals have always been accompied by a drink served in a bucket "silky's famous diver" One of the better places down town to hang out and get a drink. Really three different bars in one, the piano bar, the oyster bar, and the outdoor bar.
I so want to give Bosco's a great review. The beer is great, and the appitizers are very good, try the fried artichoke. I have been to Bosco's three times over as many years, each time my food was either, burned, or raw. My companions food as been excellent. Each time they have corrected the problem with no issues. I want to like the place, but just have no luck when I order food there.
The staff is rude and ignorant! The owner is a prick and frankly memphis has entirely way too many restaurants to waste time at this below average establishment!
Try the TJ Mulligan's Roast Beef & Fried Pickles, you won't be disappointed... Monday through Friday plate lunches are delicious & plentiful too!
A welcome addition to downtown. It has excellent food, a professional and friendly staff, and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Gotta check it out!
What about when Target played their years ago for the Georgre Klein Christmas benefit?

Not your mama's chicken salad sandwich. Way too many red onions in this chicken salad. Dressing was very different from usual chicken salad. The Philly cheesesteak was very dry and had little flavor. The tabasco shrimp and the onion rings were "nothing but batter". Fries were good.
Re: “Silky O'Sullivan's”
we went to silky osullivans when all the blues bands were on in january and we had a meal and few drinks and we had a good night then she came round with the bill and we left an 4 dollar tip from the 4 of us and she came back and told us the tip wasnt enough and the bar staff get payed from the tips so we had to leave between 10$ - 15$ tip, we were so shocked, ive never heard that in my life and we payed 10$ and we just never went back, definately taking the water out of us, we have told everyone since we came back and when we were there and they said they wouldnt go there ever
