This is a really fun place. I don't sing karaoke, but it is entertaining to watch, listen and dance. Some ppl are REALLY good, some REALLY bad, but they get up end do it and it's entertaining! Very good servers. People come in from all over. Excellent system for singing. Best time to get there is about 9pm!
Drink prices are about average.
We ate at the Slider Inn on August 22 and despite the review above, we had GREAT food, and incredible service. The place was packed - inside and outside - but our waitress was very attentive. She said that it would take a while for our dinners - and they were delivered within 10 minutes! No need for apologies. The Sliders with blue cheese and carmelized onions were incredible and the regular sliders (they have a name, but it was ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomatoe) were really good too. And the fries - TO DIE FOR!!! No complaints from us!
BEST beer cheese soup I've ever tasted. On the days that they actually serve it, make sure you get there early in the lunch hour or they may be out. Spaghetti & Meatballs are very good. Simple & authentic. Service okay, but sometimes it seems like they're understaffed during crazy lunch hours. Owell, the food definitely makes up for it.
We like Hueys. Great place to watch baseball. We aren't drinkers so we have to depend on the food. They have a great steak sandwich and french dip.
I like their food and have been in several around the country. I think the best thing on the menu is their huge appetizer sampler. It is a fun place to go and see rock and roll artifacts and listen to great music besides.
I really enjoyed it. Traci our server was excellent, check with us often yet not overly bearing. The sports screens were large and you can see the scores from a distance. The lighting set a warm and relaxing mood.Reservering 5 stars for return visit and eating from the entree menu
This is a nice place to meet for drinks. Local residents seem to hang out here which made it feel small and congested. However, the food was excellent. I would definitely eat there again.
One of the best bars in Memphis. Not overly expensive. And as stated above, $4 tip for 4 people's food and drinks!? Do you normally tip 5%? You are a serious A-hole. They definately don't need your business. The place is always hopping. I'm glad the waitress told you off.
Best food on Beale. Service isn't the best due to volume of customers. Eat there every time we go to Beale
Very good food and great service. My wife and I eat here at least 3 times a month. We eat out 2 times a week. Always updating menu.
In my opinion, this is the gastropub concept done right. That is, create a great bar first. Check. Even without a menu, this would be one of the best bars in town. Solid wood, dim lighting, heavy on the liquor, plenty of chalkboard cocktail and beer specials, and bartenders who are more like pro drinkslingers than maƮtre d's.
Then, create a simple bar menu that doesn't try to be too clever. One that, instead of laboring to impress me with its cute, creative, heavy-handed versions of traditional bar fare, takes traditional bar fare and knocks it out of the park. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for a fancy grilled cheese with pancetta and goat cheese and white truffle garlic pomme frittes. But sometimes I just want a *really freakin' great grilled cheese.*
Bardog seems way more concerned with delivering the latter, and less with putting their special little cheffy stamp on every dish. Example: their French fries. Potatoes. Oil. Salt. No fancy spices, no flavored drizzles, no pretense. And yet, best fries in Memphis. Try them and see if I'm nuts.
Way to go, Bardog.
ps. Minus one-star for the smokiness that sometimes makes the place semi-uninhabitable on weekend nights. But whatever. I'll get over it. It's a bar.
great music,. and best long island ice tea in town
It's a bar and it's a fun bar. The staff is great. Fun place to hang out.
For Beal street food, its very very good. I can not be complety objective as my meals have always been accompied by a drink served in a bucket "silky's famous diver" One of the better places down town to hang out and get a drink. Really three different bars in one, the piano bar, the oyster bar, and the outdoor bar.
A welcome addition to downtown. It has excellent food, a professional and friendly staff, and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Gotta check it out!
One of the original Memphis Tex-Mex restaurants. Still consistent, excellent and authentic. Daily Specials and weekend seafood entrees. Great service staff.
Great comfy place to drink a beer & have a tasty salad or sandwich. Plus one of the best patios in town. Great buy for the $$.
Re: “Young Avenue Deli”
The food is bar fare but it's a bar so what do you want? Actually, the food is much better than other similar places.
The beer selection is what draws me. It really gives Flying Saucer a run for its money. That alone would rate it 4-5 stars.
Factor is the food and it rates 3.5 but I'll round up in this case.
