Re: “India Palace

DITTO above!!!!

Wow????? No reviews of the BEST INDIAN restaurant in town???? That's criminal! This is the restaurant that set the standards. They've been around the longest and they certainly know how to do everything right. First off, my main compliments are to the owners and staff. I have traveled the country and have eaten at some of the finest dining establishments there are, and there is NO OTHER restaurant that exceeds Indian Palace's service. NONE! After you take your first sip of water, they are immediately there to fill your glass again. Need anything? You NEVER have to wait long, as there is someone always close by to accomodate your every need. Most visits are met with a manager who stops by to ask if you are pleased with your meal and service. They GENUINELY care! They GENUINELY appreciate you and your business. We have been going to the lunch buffets ever since they opened. The food is absolutely TERRIFIC, even on the buffets. Try the chicken wings if they're on the buffet that day! While this is a personal favorite of mine on the buffet, I recently ordered them from the menu and they're served a bit differently than at lunch. I wasn't expecting their being served on a sizzling platter with a generous amount of grilled onions and tomatos, and a spectacular, and somewhat sweet, Indian barbeque-type sauce! The only way I can describe the taste is that it's one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of eating! A definite must. I took my best friend there for her birthday, and we ordered the complete Tandori Dinner. What an unforgettable and mouth-watering feast! Because we told the owner that it was my friend's birthday, he surprised us by including some "extras" to our meal per gratis. While there were only 2 of us, we had enough food for at least 4 people. As a matter of fact, we took what we couldn't eat home and had it for dinner last night. We still have enough for another meal!
Ample Selection, Extraordinary Food, Unsurpassed Service, Delightful Atmosphere --- it's ALL there for you to enjoy at Indian Palace - the BEST Indian restaurant in town!

Re: “Martin Luther King Riverside Park

This park is surrounded by underdeveloped neighborhoods and right next to a refinery with a spewing smoke stack that can be smelled anywhere in the park. The river itself is across from industrial activity. I'd recommend almost any other park in Memphis before this one.

Re: “Saigon Le

It's been awhile since I visited this restaurant, but am only going to put in my two cents based on my earlier visits. I don't understand why people are always rating this restaurant so high. The food is decent, yes, but the dining experience has always been less than fulfilling. The main problem is the service and attitude of the people in charge. The three times I visited Saigon Le, it was always the same story. I have since heard the same complaint from others who have been there. There are so many Vietnamese restaurants in town now that are every bit as good, if not much better, than Saigon Le, that I don't understand why people still hold this place in such high regard???? Have they even tried any of the others? They should! Based on the service and the "not-so-much-better" food, I choose to go to other Vietnamese restaurants

Re: “Shang Hai

Recently ate here on a Saturday night. When we arrived at 6:15, there was only 1 couple eating there (*should have been a good indication)! We were there for about an hour and no one else came in, other than 1 man who had a take-out. While the young waitress was very friendly and efficient, the food was pretty awful. I did have an order of Vietnamese Spring Rolls which were decent. But, the selection of Thai dishes was meek, and most notedly, void of Curry selections. The only one was Masaman, which ranks as my least favorite. With that said, I had my heart and tastebuds set on Thai Curry, so I ordered it. The waitress said it was prepared spicy and I asked for it very mild. To my dismay, the dish came out more like a soup with watered-down, tasteless sauce, very little chicken (my choice of meat) and few vegetables other than water chestnuts, which I specifically asked to leave out. Again, this was "soup" rather than a typical Masaman Curry entree. VERY disappointed. My companion ordered a Thai catfish entree (asked for mild) that had very little taste and very little sauce to boot. It was just a non-enticing plate of fish. Perhaps, our problem was requesting our selections as "mild", but based on the fact that there was no one else in the restaurant, I would only suspect that repeat business is minimal, at best, due to the quality and taste of the food. Maybe the Chinese and Vietnamese selections are better, but I won't visit again to try them out. I can only surmise that others feel the same way. After all, there was no one else eating there during the main dinner hours on a Saturday night...??
With so many other GREAT Oriental restaurants in town, this one is a waste of time and money.

Re: “Bleu Restaurant & Lounge

If the ultimate in service coupled with food beyond compare is your thing, Bleu is definitely the place for you. The pork loin prepared in a manner you've never seen was my delicious entre'. My wife raved about the salmon. A memorable dining experience awaits anyone who patronizes Bleu.

Re: “Rock-n-Roll Cafe

My friend and I go to Memphis at least 3 times a year. We absolutely love Joe and his family! His shows are awsome. How can any of you write the negative things you wrote on here about Joe? What about the horrible things you have done in your life? Let's air your dirty laundry!!! Joe is an awsome entertainer. We always see his shows when we are there. I suggest to anyone going to Graceland, see the Joe Kent Show. You will be glad you did. We are going again in January. Can't wait to see ya, Joe. Keep up the good work. As long as you perform, we will always come and see you! TBC.....WE LOVE YOU!

Tip your waiter in cash. The workers don't get paid there.
