Re: “You Know You're From Memphis If...

... you've seen that guy who wears a bandana and rides his bike everywhere.

... you've started figuring out that guy's schedule based on where and when you see him.

... you've gotten concerned because you haven't seen that guy in a while.

Re: ““Hunger Games” at The Commercial Appeal

The CA will eventually downsize and outsource its way to irrelevance. They will milk all the cash they can from the remnants in the mean time.

Re: “Democrats in Philadelphia Wonder, 'Where's Jim?'

I imagine he has better things to do than schmooze with a bunch of self-congratulatory political hacks, whose idea of being a Democrat (Big D) involves avoiding the actual practice of democracy (little d) by means of corrupted party officials and 'super delegate' shenanigans.

We have 'more important things to worry about', as some here are wont to reminds us about, ad nauseum. There happens to be a lot of work to do in this wild and wooly river city, where there is Trouble.

Yeah, trouble galore.

Woodson J. Savage, the Flyer's circulation has remained steady for years, with a 92%-95% pickup rate each week, a stat that ranks among the highest in alt-weekly papers in the country.

Presumably he's working to improve this city, unlike a few of his predecessors & Board members.

...if your car has ever been hit by an unlicensed/uninsured driver.

On the other hand...if you've almost hit several people with your car in one day because no one uses the crosswalks on Madison or Poplar.

Re: ““Hunger Games” at The Commercial Appeal

My better half and I decided about six months ago to stop our Sunday only delivery. The CA had very little to offer with all of the free digital news available. They also cut off comments without identifying yourself though that was just the icing on the cake. I wish the CA employees well, I hate to see anyone lose their job.

Re: “Politics and the Movies 2: Citizen Kane

I am a Julia Morgan fan and visited the Hearst Castle in the 90s which prompted me to see the movie. Very powerful cinema at the top of my list of favs-quite by accident. It is disconcerting how little the political arena has changed. Very nice comparison.

...if at least 1/4 of your neighbors and in-town family members work at FedEx and if some of those who don't work there refer to the colossal FedEx hub as "Fred's plantation."

Re: “New Traffic Signal First Sign of 'Midtown Market' Project

I can't wait. There could be a whole reality TV show on the zany antics of confused Memphians that will be caused by that funky light. Somebody needs to record it.

Or maybe a historic Powerpoint presentation, "Weird Arrows on Union Avenue".
