Re: “Rep. Ellison, Frontrunner in DNC Race, to be Honored Here

LoveBC,
Sorry, since the topic is Rep Ellison, I thought that was what you were talking about.

Re: “Rep. Ellison, Frontrunner in DNC Race, to be Honored Here

Nick R, I thought I made it clear, I was talking about Pelosi.

Pelosi used to the the majority leader. I cannot blame, or thank her, for the ker plunk of the democratic party, but as a leader, she must shoulder some of the blame for the dems losing the house, senate and presidency. I imagine she had a voice in the strategy meetings.

Nick R, the elites (super delegates) were so busy screwing Sanders and his minions that they lost sight of what they used to stand for, which was the plight of the working and middle classes.

Re: “Trader Joe's Project Back on Track

That's at least three stores competing for the same demographic all within walking distance. Let's see, Whole Foods, Kroger's and soon to be Trader Joe's.

Re: “Cohen Introduces Amendment to Scrap Electoral College

@Bric

Well, you made the assertion, not me. It is up to you to support it.

I think I know about as much as anyone here as far as the Civil War goes and have never read any reputable historian that directly connects the Electoral College, or the 3/5 provision, to the Civil War one way or another.

The Electoral College is a result of Congressional distribution, not the source of it, and besides, Lincoln won the popular vote in 1860 as well as winning the Electoral College.

So I really don't see your point that somehow things would have played out differently had there been no Electoral College. Not to mention the implausibility of your statement that the US would still have slavery today.

Just outline a few salient points to support your position, no long dissertation is necessary for me to understand.

ArlingtonPop, if you can't take Brichy's word for it by now you have learned NOTHING! Why does he waste his time on you?
Really!

Re: “Cohen Introduces Amendment to Scrap Electoral College

ApoP,

Really? You expect me to write a long explanation on how the events of the past 200+ years would play out differently if the USA didn't have the Electoral College?

I also said the Three Fifth's Compromise.

It would be much easier if you just think about it for a few minutes. You don't seem that lazy.

I'll give you a hint: Population enumeration and it's effects on the Congressional Delegations of the various states.

Re: “Cohen Introduces Amendment to Scrap Electoral College

@Bric

OK, fair enough. I will rephrase my question.

How is it that the Civil War would not have happened without the Electoral College?

Pull the other one, it's got bells on it.

Re: “Cohen Introduces Amendment to Scrap Electoral College

I think that you need to read it again Apop. I didn't say it caused the war, nor did I say it started the war. Nothing of the sort. I said: Without the Electoral College and the Three Fifths Compromise, the Civil war would not have happened, and the USA would still have slavery. Perhaps this is what Cohen is showing his support for?

Re: “Cohen Introduces Amendment to Scrap Electoral College

@Bric

Sorry, I need some instruction.

How exactly did the Electoral College play into causing the Civil War?

Put that in your cigar and smoke it.

@CL

My thought is that it would be scalable.

Soak everything between a cigarillo and a Churchill.

I am telling you, this has potential.

APop,
I dunno, wouldn't that require me to put down the cigar at some point?

@FUNK

I think you are on to something big.

Cuban cigars are the world's best and a lot of old farts smoke them.

So what if we ditched the idea of soaking them in morphine and soaked them in Viagra instead?

Asking for a friend.

Re: “Encouraging Cycling, City Will Offer Free Event Bike Racks

I was robbed by some thugs while riding home several years ago on my bike.

My great grandfather was killed in a robbery that went bad, so I guess everyone should be concerned about thugs.

A thug, aka punk, punk bitch, child molester, worthless piece of shit, coward, perp, etc. as someone that does not belong in the human race because they cannot obey the basic rules of decency. Hell was made for thugs.

IMHO, it is thugs that are destroying this city.

It used to be painful to see the victims of thuggery back when I was a court officer, such as seeing some kids that lost their father because some punk did not want to get a job, but kill someone for a few dollars.

It really burns to see so many caring about Jonathon Breecher that was killed after pointing a gun at police officers, and putting several lives at risk running from officers, not to mention all the harm he caused others with his criminal activities over the years.

However, no one appears to care about the lady recently murdered that took a second job delivering pizzas so she could give her kids a better Christmas. A parent's life sniffed out so some thugs could avoid getting a job. Where are Jesse and Al?

Funkbars, I could go on, but why, what's the point, not many care.

Anyway, ride safe my brother.

I've been bike commuting for a while now, and have never had trouble with "thugs."

I've always wondered about the type of person that has anxiety about "thugs."

Exactly where is the line drawn between "thug" and "person"?

Once again LoveBC's imagination proves true. Batista handed out window unit AC's to his beloved peasants to use with their surplus of electricity across the island.
Why aren't we talking out Hillary's tryst with Raul in Caracas in 1986?

Re: “Cohen Introduces Amendment to Scrap Electoral College

It's the cigars soaked in 10% solution of morphine that really will make Cuba Great Again.

Oh, wait, we were talking about the electoral college and how we probably shouldn't have called Emperor Bush II a monkey a decade ago.

@ OakTree
I heard they have good central a/c at the hotels that the tourists are allowed in, but are banned for the native Cubans. Gotta love those worker paradises.
