Bad link. Just google Don't hold your breath for public opinion to turn against Obama, 5/21/2013
I have constantly told you red-state-southern ultra gop conservatives, yes, with a touch of racism in it, to realize that there is a much greater share of the American people that don't think the same way they do.
These so-called scandals are nothing but conservative republicans with a good dose of racism in them fueling this fire that is really only manifesting its self within the gop framework and the Washington Beltway.

Good lord B_Head, what decade are you living in? I think we got this lecture (essentially) about 40 years ago and look where it got us. Thank you daddy, where have you been?
Oldtimer,
It sure ain't your Obama-Marxist Communist flavored-race colored Kool-Aid.
That much you can count on.
Well there is a saying "If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain." It is wrongly attributed to Winston Churchill but that is false.
Broadhead,
Man, I don't know what the hell you were talking about, but, it sure read well!
How about leaving me a pint of that stuff you are drinking. That must be some powerful stuff.
But, please stop describing ArlingtonPop in your posts.
We are saying the same thing OTP.
It's all about tailoring your message to the individual. The vast majority of voters will be turned off by at least one portion of either party's platform, but the vast majority also will likely agree with at least one portion of your platform.
The key is targeting your message to voters to get them excited about voting for you, whether they're part of your base or part of the middle. If you go to the individual with the wrong message, they won't be energized. That's why getting deeper than just region specific or even county specific tailored messages is a HUGE advantage.
If you have that advantage and utilize it in the swing states with the areas that are most likely for you to be able to swing, you can significantly move the needle on an election.
And you bring up a great point about Romney not being able to energize some of his base. He needed to be able to sell himself as one thing to a portion of his base but as another to other portion of his base and as something completely different possibly to the middle.
It's extremely hard to do that, as you say, in today's world of social media and instant news, but it can be done with targeted messaging. The trick is being able to identify who to target with what message from your platform, and in that regard, the GOP was significantly behind the Obama campaign.
I believe it goes without saying that today’s colleges politically influence more young graduates than any other media available. The “correctness” and Cultural Marxism spoken in institutions of higher learning circumvent all other known common sense taught by “life’s lessons” and conveniently hides the evils and corruption the older generations actually witnessed by watching the more collective institutions and governments collapse under their own weight of dependence.
While the “degrees, diplomas and PHDs” in education abound, the actual intelligence is replaced by the instructed or brainwashed “knowledge” and leaves the “well instructed” student a simple shell hoping to somehow serve his more dependent mankind (and his insatiable government) rather than actually achieving what was handed to him on a silver platter with little difficulty earning…prosperity and self security!
The young and naïve simply believe what they are taught to believe and that is that the “older independent generation” cares only for their personal wealth and NOTHING for the underprivileged or minorities. That simple notion is enough propaganda to sway those well educated minds to follow the ideology that will ultimately enslave them as it has Europe.
I am afraid the young will only realize their mistake when they become “the older dependent generation” or when the effects of their safe sex, social media, smart phone, professional sports and Godless drug and entertainment culture wear off where they can finally see what they and their parents actually gave up in exchange for what made their life so easy for such a short while.
It really is great to see Dana Carvey getting a gig again, this time as Governor of Tennessee. It's also great to see Stephen Fincher keep up his comedy routine from his Fincher Family gig... http://www.thefincherfamily.com/

What you are saying was relevant in the past, but, in todays world of instant communications and numerous news outlets, blogs, etc, it is not valid today.
One cannot get away with saying one thing to mobilize his/her troops without the other side hearing about it. Truth and facts will now rule the day, not just political talking points.
As an aside, a report is out today that says, according to the last census, Suburban Shelby County had a whopping 64% increase in poverty. Those are facts felt by those 64% that fell into poverty. An astute politician with the right computer program can successfully target those 64% and get some of them to switch sides with their vote. That is what Obama did, he didn't change his message. With those increase in poverty facts, the right politician, fair haired and blue eyed, can possibly beat a republican in suburban Shelby County. That is because when all is said and done, pocketbook issues rule at the time of elections.
Yes, there were quite a few republicans that would not have voted for Obama and didn't regardless of what his message was. But, those same republicans could not see themselves, while watch the Romney horse dancing beautifully at the Olympics while they worried whether they would have a job the next day voting for him. that young women that saw what conservative governors were doing by ordering forced vaginal ultrasounds, the closing of abortion clinics, just became frightened and could not vote for a republican. Hispanics that were told to self deport and that the border fence should be electrified just couldn't see voting for a republican. A white republican when he heard the 47% speech and realized that he was in that 47 percent, no, wouldn't vote for Obama, but, he damn sure would not vote for Romney.
It was the message that screwed the republicans, Romney and the senate candidates. Unless that changes, the gop is a dying, one region party.
As an aside I've dabbled in that type of big data analytics, more working on the fringes of projects, so I understand the power that gives a business, or in this case a campaign, when you have that type of advantage over a direct competitor.
It's truly a knife at a gun fight situation. I read some articles on the Obama campaign and their use of big data. It was impressive, and it's something the GOP is going to have to duplicate to keep up.
Actually I'm right OTP, and you admitted it. Winning an election is about voter mobilization. Do you think everyone who voted Dem agrees with the entire platform, and everyone who votes GOP agrees with the entire platform? Of course not.
The trick is being able to frame your message to the individual so that you not only mobilize your base by sending them the right message but you mobilize the middle by sending them the right message.
Obama's campaign was far ahead of Romney's on the advanced analytics that allowed them to sell themselves to individuals on parts of their platform that were most likely to resonate with the voter. That's how you mobilize voters, and it more than anything else swayed the election.
"He said that Christians needed to take care of each other but ..."

I'm assuming this is an accurate summary? It betrays the same insular attitude that nullifies conservative "morality" and demonstrates the kinship of right-wing Republican-American-evangelicals to the ancient Pharisees.
Matthew 5:47
"... Do not even pagans do that?"
Politicians would all sound so much more intelligent if they resisted the urge to quote the Bible. But sounding intelligent probably isn't an asset when garnering votes. So stoop to the popular ignorance, if you're not already entangled in it.
" the right type of white democrat and Mississippi will move into the blue column. remember, you heard it from me first."
From you lips (or fingertips) to God's ears, OTP! I pray you're right.
Mad Merc
Grove got it completely wrong. the republicans lost because their policies are not where the mainstream of americans are. The gop voters had as much opportunity to hear their message as the dems had their message. The problem was that when the too messages were put side by side, the majority of the voters rejected the gop. Along with the rapidly changing demographics, there is also a change in social thinking by the majority of americans.
As far as Msnbc, yes, I like Msnbc. I like them because they don't lie and say thatg they are fair and balanced. They are what they are, liberal. But, how many conspiracy theories have Msnbc originated.
No, Grove is dead wrong. the changing demographics is changing the social thread of this nation and that is a fact. It has been there for a while now, it just needed Obama's sophisticated computer programs to mobilize and keep the people informed and ready to turnout and vote. We all know the way Texas, Arizona, Colorado are going, but, the shocker, right next door will be Mississippi. It is at the tipping point. Mississippi has 37% black voters. the right type of white democrat and Mississippi will move into the blue column. remember, you heard it from me first.
The GOP never had a chance in 2012 because nobody who had been running, obama would have won by any costs! He cheated, voter fraud was rampant and when you have the complete media to talk you up at every minute of the day, who would have had a chance against him!? This is what the immigration thing is all about! More mexicans to vote democratic in the next election! Soon this Country will be so diverse that white and conservatives will be so out numbered that there never will be another GOP win for the White House or any other office! Take a look at Texas! It is ever becoming a left wing state and as more and more move in from California and other leftist states, their demographic will change and there will go the Country!
I'll agree with you about Dukakis, but not Dean.
Grove broke it down pretty well, I think.
And OTP gets to use MSNBC as long as nightcrawler and company continue to use Fox, Limbaugh, Beck, et al.
It doesn't matter what the GOP does nationally. Unfortunately, the demographics in key swing states just don't add up for a GOP presidential candidate. Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, and Florida all have declining white populations and these are the states that decide elections. Moreover, in a few more years, Texas will be a blue state and that will be the death of the GOP.
That said, the republicans can run whoever they want (i.e. Rubio, Paul, Cruz, etc.) but it's not going to matter. Does anyone think that a Ted Cruz nomination is going to attract non-white voters in the swing states? And yes, 75% of the voters in the 2012 election were white, but for the most part, they are crammed into states like TN, Alabama, Georgia, etc.
The only chance the republicans have is to run a moderate like Chris Christie. He would be the only candidate that could siphon off some of those non-white voters in the swing states.
Elections are won and lost by one thing only. The media. Obama has had the media, TV and print, in his front and back pockets since the beginning. GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt is the Head Of Obama’s Jobs Council. Ge owns NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Telemundo, and an Godly amount of radio stations. And George Soros has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC. I know FOX News liberals will not believe them but it is what it is. But don't just read that link, just Google, George Soros and what media he controls with donations.
Google what media goes GE own.

If you own the media you own the sheeple. You are screwed if the main media does not say what your agenda is and just never shows or prints good thing about you. And that is what is happening. It shows the spins from the Oval Office, or what the POTUS wants you to believe. Yeah Yeah Yeah I know, the Republicans have done so in the past also. But this is reason why you only get what they want you to get. Who owned and ran the media in Germany during WWII. Joseph Goebbels a real nice guy. He had as much control if not more than Immelt.
The people on the left will not believe any of this and come up with some kind of bullshit instead of facts. Most of the right will believe it. Look at Anderson Cooper, CNN News boy. Always calls the TEA party the "TEA Baggers". I believe that term is a reference to a homosexual act. I may be wrong. And I am not saying anything bad about homsexuals. I do believe Cooper has come out.

You live in Arlington. How about the lowdown on Taylor Flake, Class President of Arlington High School, not being allowed to speak at the graduation ceremony.
Seems to me if you can get enough votes to be class president, you should be able to speak. Are you sure it is not because of color?
