In Hollywood, only beautiful sexy women have a need for gigolos. If these women were under-aged, it would be a Woody Allen movie.
Congratulations Cyndii!!! A unique and creative idea...I know you'll be successful in your endeavors!
Time Warp Drive-In is running monthly all summer long. https://www.facebook.com/timewarpdrivein
I was there and it was a great experience! Will this event go on all summer long or was it a one time thing? It was a great idea to watch classic movies under the stars.
Great Idea. I love going to the Drive In.
Truth be told, of all the places where I misspent my misspent manchildhood I probably miss Babylon even more than the Antenna (Sorry James!). Only because when I was very poor-- and I was often in that condition-- I could buy a heaping bowl of beans and rice with some kind of good salsa or relish for a buck. A BUCK! One yankee dollar. Menu price. And be treated just like a customer ordering the most expensive thing on the menu. Babylon kept me alive in a hard season. The only bad experience I ever had was when a kind Rainbow brother followed me around all evening spouting awful blank verse poetry to "repay" some kindness I can't even recall.
Funny. Back then I'd see Tim Sampson sitting at a table with friends and a bottle of wine and I'd think, "someday I'll go to work for the Memphis Flyer--- and I'll be rich too!" Perspective is a weird, weird thing.
WEED! Dirty hippies! Man, I remember the goat-cheese salad from Babylon Cafe, it was amazing.
Despite all the profound BS espoused by the brilliant twenty-somethings interviewed in the historical footage, it really boils down to one thing. Young girls like new music. If you were in a band, promoted the bands, or were in any way connected to the bads, you had first dibs on the girls. Period.
I've seen this, so bizarre Channel 5's concept of punk and underground. Should of gotten some of those Vegan Reich kids in there to make it interesting.
21 year old Scott Banbury footage in the first segment
Apparently nobody told Joe that the weird turn pro.
OMG, I soooo wish this had remained underground--I can't believe I used to espouse that hippie nonsense ;-)
I heard it say Redrum.
i swear, the flyer wants to be Vice/ Noisey so bad...
MB, Congrats !!! Keep It Up !!
I don't know why but I picked up a promo copy of Portrait a few weeks back and it finally arrived today. The music inspired me to look further and now I find that he jammed with Lewis Furry and is dead.....damn! I'm glad he was in so many of y'alls lives and now I can at least share his music.
Love it! Where did Chalsie get her specs? They're supreme.
Hi, Joe -
Thank you for the post regarding IRIS' final concert for the season. I need you to make a correction; however, the orchestra is conducted by Michael Stern, not David (his brother). Can you please correct this online and if it is in print, have a correction made?
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thank you, Leslie Rochkind - email@example.com
Thanks for pointing that out. It appears to be gone in both places now. Good eye.
As I said, I made the error. I accept full responsibility. I have posted almost daily since October. At that rate, I'm bound to mess something up. I run corrections as fast as I can when I do. I'm sorry it had to do with such a well-respected musician and regret the lapse in professional standards.
I appreciate you both for keeping an eye on my work.
