Re: “Ruby Wilson, the “Queen of Beale” Has Died

The Memphis Blues Society brought the first blues festival back to Memphis in nearly half a century last year. The Bona Fide Blues festival honors a local blues musician throughout the festival, and features them on the ticket. Last year was the late Robert "Wolfman" Belfour. Ms. Ruby and the gang were all looking forward to the celebration of her life and career this year. Still will still be honored, and she will still be there in spirit. Sept. 30 - Oct.1 in Overton Square.

What can I say? There's a big hole in Memphis' heart today. Goodbye Ms. Ruby. We won't see your like ever again. My condolences to the family.

Re: “The Buccaneer To Reopen Under New Management

Strait Shooter,
Take the risk. If I hadn't, I never would have experienced The Club Paradise, 1975. Although this will not be anywhere near as cool.

Re: “The Buccaneer To Reopen Under New Management

I'm curious. How is this place in terms of racial diversity? Seriously. Diversity of the audience and the performers? Is it pretty much exclusively a "white" hangout? Asking because, as a non-white, that will help me decide whether this place is worth a visit.

@MT - To be fair, most nights I end up at the Buccaneer, I'm so far into the evening's drinking, that I don't know exactly what street I'm on anyway.

Re: “Jimi Jamison 1951-2014

I finally found the courage to read all about Jimi now that time has passed since that most horrible of days that he left us. This is the most beautiful article I've read about Jimi. When you talk about how he sounds on "The Search Is Over", I understand it so well, only I could never express it as eloquently as you have. Jimi had the most beautiful, strong, emotional, unique voice I've ever heard and I'll miss it always and forever. Rest in Peace, Jimi, hope you're watching over us.

Re: “Elvis Guitarist Scotty Moore Dies

Was lucky and honoured to meet great guitarist Scotty Moore, for a chat backstage in Dublin Ireland a number of years ago. He was a gentleman. His book "That's Alright Elvis" is a must read!

Re: “Revolve Guitars and Music Opens in Bartlett

rEvolve has been a pleasure to deal with the past two years. Geoff has repaired and setup at least six guitars for me and always done an outstanding job. I trust him for his advice and respect him for his honesty. His prices are extremely reasonable and the work is top-notch. I have also bought numerous items from him and the prices are competitive with anyone. What I enjoy the most is the neighborhood "feel" of his shop. It's fun just to look around while someone is playing a possible future buy in the background. Geoff and Zack run a great music store with plenty of selection, knowledge and honesty.
