Re: “Cafe Brooks Debuts, etc.

Doing away with the Brushmark will prove to be a BIG mistake. It attracted significant patronage of the museum, which a pale shadow, like "Cafe Brooks," will never do (even with its patrician price structure). If this is the kind of decision-making we can expect from the new director, I suspect we can look forward to a continuation of the museum's history of director-musical-chairs.

Re: “Cafe Brooks Debuts, etc.

What does this mean " Caf Brooks by Paradox offers a family-friendly experience." ?
All of Brooks feels like a ladies who lunch experience. The only upcoming exhibit listed is the 2017 Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards. And yes I know inflated bunnies (right after giant red balls) its all rather banal. Where is the art that challenges us. Or art that is not only self referential. Something that does not feel so gawd awful small townish. Including boasting of some family-friendly experience. Of course Dixon is coming off "Hunting and Fishing in American Art" and if that is not self referential enough local artists are next exhibit. Have we no interest in the outside world? Must every museum only cater to little old ladies?

Re: “Wine-speak

If you can't tell the difference, then it's all immaterial. On the other hand, if you can, then it's relatively easy to identify the bouquet of verbose ignorance.

Re: “Wine-speak

Lol. This is ridiculous. I know wine experts and they have opened up my world to a great adventure that is wine and spirit tasting. Some people are full of bullshit but not true experts. They help take you on a journey and they walk beside you to help you find something that will help beautify a meal you slaved over for an unforgettable experience. Don't make a mockery of a true profession. You seem to want MORE snobs in the world with your How-To Speak BS instructional. Less snobs please.

Re: “Cosmic Coconut "Evolving" into City Silo

OK this statement creeps me out...

"City Silo will be overwhelmingly organic and local whenever possible."

Overwhelmingly , whenever possible?
Hmm

Those are some pretty wide margins.

Re: “Wimpy's Burgers & Fries Coming to Midtown

@lovebc, sure there is ways to pay high wages to employees in the food biz. Same as farming. Make me money and I'll make sure you make more than average. There's unimaginable ways to cost a farmer money but if the employees are good and cautious at what they do and don't break equipment and cost me money they see their rewards every paycheck.

I've been a return customer to many restaurants because of how the waiter took care of us. Wimpys isn't McD's though. It's a step above and the pay and clientele should reflect that. Minimum wage food service jobs are beginner jobs. Do well and move up the ladder. Earn that $15 don't just expect it.

Re: “Fresh Bagels in Midtown from Dave's Bagels

Mia,
It would be much cheaper but you would have to wait millions of years to get what you want. Dave's should be much quicker.

Intelligent design? How much for an evolutionary bagel?

Re: “Fresh Bagels in Midtown from Dave's Bagels

Ms. Scott: thank you for that. So, how much does (your husband/son/brother?) sell un-stuffed, otherwise unadorned, bagels for? I'm all for local products/businesses (Ricki's Bread being one of my favorite examples), but not at any price.

Re: “Fresh Bagels in Midtown from Dave's Bagels

Maybe I'm reading this wrong (it won't be the first time), but is he planning to charge $2.25 for an "un-stuffed" bagel, and $4.25 for a stuffed one? I hope I'm wrong (and if so, the article doesn't say what an un-stuffed one is going to cost). It seems like this is going to be as overpriced a commodity as virtually everything else this high-end emporium sells (which may explain why its parking lot seems to be empty most of the time). But, of course, no one ever went broke underestimating the willingness of well-heeled Midtowners to overpay for their trendiness.

P.S. The best bagel in Memphis is still, and will probably remain, Einstein's and/or Costco's. Sorry, Dave.

Re: “The latest on Le Jardin and Sushi Jimmi

Put in "Le Jardin Restaurant" and you get about 29 million results on Google. LOL. Good luck on that legal action, counselor.

Re: “The latest on Le Jardin and Sushi Jimmi

The name Le Jardin was stolen from the original chef. I believe legal action is pending. I will never support this business.

Re: “Wimpy's Burgers & Fries Coming to Midtown

Nick, oh my I believe he is suggesting the two of you take this debate to the next level. That's how I met my first wife, at a young Republican's meeting about tariffs or something. Take a chance, take precautions, but take a chance and find out what LoveBC means by big time. Although he does have a tendency to exaggerate.

LoveBC, like yourself, I too sometimes confuse sex with discussion of the hourly wage and homelessness. It's natural isn't it? It doesn't mean that you are confused as a whole. Hang in there.

Re: “Wimpy's Burgers & Fries Coming to Midtown

LoveBC, of course you do. It is in keeping with all the other super powers you have professed on this site.
So we are to take it that actually you wouldn't take a $15 per hour kitchen job. Another comment blown out your ass with just about as much substance.
