Re: “Letters to the editor

Pat Soler

Very good. And let's remember what this coming Monday is all about. It is to honor all the men and women who died keeping America safe. So while everyone is enjoying their 3 day weekend with cookouts, the beach, and the drinks of their choice, please take just a minute and think about the meaning and give thanks to them. Also thank the men and women and families that are serving now for all of their sacrifice.

Trevor Faust

I'm sorry I know you have eaten that stuff, soy-based food. So have I and I do not care to live my life eating that stuff unless the doctor says I will be worm food in 6 months if I don't. I would still have to think about it. LOL But I guess it is in my genome to be a carnivore. My very distant ancestors had a choice between eating grass and shrubs or risking their lives by running and chasing down some 3000 pound behemoth for their meals. We know what they chose. And I'm going to guess that the grass and shrubs of that time period tasted the same as now. So unfortunately I will still be ordering medium rare steak instead tofu burgers. And I congratulate you on your quest to make the environment better.

Can someone tell the President about some of this technology? He seems to be the last to learn about everything.

Re: “2 Chicks and a Broom Relocates

Please be advised not to use this service. The owners are very unproffessional and do not respond to complaints. On numerous occassions our chicks were late or did not stay the entire time. Therefore, we were cheated out of a substantial amount of money. Also, they did not do a good job and on numerous occassions broke expensive items - which the owners of the company refused to either replace or provide monetary compensation. This company used to be a wonderful service; but, several years ago it was sold by the original owner to some very unscrupulous individuals. I purchased a gift certificate for cleaning in the amount of several hundred dollars and they claimed it was never purchased and then charged me for the cleanings that should have been covered. When I protested (hours of phone calls, collection of canceled checks showing payment etc.) - the owner yelled and threatened me and my family and my animals. Horrible people. I have never had such an unpleasant and stressful experience.

I agree, really I do. I wish only the best for SCS/MSC and everything they venture into. I also want us, MSDs, to work WITH them all we can. Because you, me and a lot of other people here and all of Shelby county really believe it is for the KIDS not race or money. I do want our schools to be up and fully functional before we extend our help. And I believe once the snake and his brothers are out of the mixture everything will fall into place nicely. Again you are really the better man because I due hold a grudge against that group. It is like the old frog and scorpion tale of them crossing the river. And unfortunately we are dealing with a snake/scorpion.
And you have to admit that would be an ideal way of getting rid of rotten vegetables.

Re: “Game 2: Spurs 93, Grizzlies 89 (OT) — Can’t Repeat the Past?

@Goat,

I guess we will see. I have a lot of confidence that this series will be 2-2 come Tuesday morning.

The Clippers and Thunder had some great scorers and Superstars too. They couldn't manage to beat this Grizzlies team once we figured out the formula against both teams.

You just better hope you are right, that it was just luck that this team climbed back and took your team to overtime, and that it wasn't that Lionel has figured out the formula against the Spurs too. We will find out soon enough, but our non-Superstar having team sure seems to make life difficult on teams despite the fact that we "can't score".

Re: “Haslam Cautions Fellow Republicans at Lincoln Day Dinner

@Diogenes,

Believe me, I'd love to stick it in Ritz's face and rub his nose in the dirt. I'd love to have him be forced to parade around each of the suburbs in a clown suit with people throwing rotten vegetables at him.

However, the ultimate goal here is MSD formation and successful schools. I'm not against Memphis having success either. In fact, I hope they truly make significant progress towards improving their school performance. I'd even be more than happy for our school boards to cooperate in any way possible to make the school experience better for the kids all around the county.

For that reason, I'm willing to put aside the personal animosity towards a snake like Ritz if it means we get to focus on what's important, education, rather than fighting over who controls the pot. To me, the ultimate victory of having this process and transition to MSD formation run smoothly is more important than sticking it to Ritz, even though he more than deserves it.

Haven't complimented the Flyer staff in some time. Sorry. With that, let me say this is one hell of an issue. Nice work, all. Best team in town.

Why is it there's nobody but white people down there doing this stuff. I don't condone gayness at all but I refuse to picket them or act an ass about it like those folks down there. Some people just don't have nothing better to do then stirring up trouble ...

AP,
There are two new public acts that will be of interest to Germantown et al. Public Chapter 411 regarding open enrollment which, among other things, makes it difficult to demonstrate any racial animus in forming city schools, and Chapter 393 regarding high performing schools.

Life is happening "off the grid". Everyone else's life is what's happening "on the grid". At some point, even people under 30 will be needing to live their own lives for the preservation of sanity.

As for hoping for no more FAKE fouls....flagrant or otherwise; that will most likely depend on Mr. Ginobli.

Re: “Bikes and Memphis Aim Beyond Paint on Pavement

As the blogger for Car-Free Memphis, I wonder why it is that anyone is wondering if biking has gone beyond the white middle class. How ignorant can one get than to think such a thought. Poor black folks, for example, have always been ahead of this curve for several decades when it comes to walking, biking, and riding on public transit. In fact, their carbon foot print is far smaller than any other group of people. It's just that poor black people, about 40,000 strong here in Memphis, TN, do not have a place to walk, bike, or push a wheel chair to that is within ten minutes of their homes. Indeed, poor black people have food deserts and junk food stores and liquor stores on every corner; and for them to get anything nutritious to eat, it generally takes them as long as five hours to get back and forth to such stores via our despicable public transit service. The poor spend at least 30 hours or more on a Memphis Area Transit Authority bus each week and at best the poor can only make one pit stop per day; because, these buses only run every hour and these buses are generally late getting to the bus stops. For example, some people wait as long as 20 minutes out in open air rain or shine at bus stops. Therefore, the only question that should be asked at this point is as follows: When is there going to be any social justice whereby the poor communities are redesigned to be more like car-free cities so that the poor people can meet all of their essential needs without leaving their community just like the weathly class people are doing right now? Instead, what is going on is that the poor are getting booted out of their community; and then, the rich are redesigning these same communites to fit their rich lifestyle; once again proving how greedy they are when they want their way...and then acting as if they are the one's who are ahead of the curve and how much they are throwing the poor a bone by giving them vouchers to move further out to more desolate locations far and away from bus stops and still without having cars to get around. What gets to me is that the weathy class is doing all of this redesigning process to accommodate their gas guzzling vehicles, and then has the gal to fund it heavily with billions of corporate welfare tax dollars; while they do not ever want the poorest or the poor to even have a miniscule amount of welfare and food stamps. I have got news for those people who feel this way: there is plenty of money for everyone to live comfortably within a car-free zones and these zones can be off the grid via solar and wind power.

@GCMemphis,

the Grizz can't SCORE, the Grizz can't DEFEND,
how exactly do you expect them to "protect" home.

the better team and the better coach will win, I'll let you figure it out.

here is wishing a great game 3 and 4.

PS. hopefully no more FAKE flagrant fouls.

I know you are a better man than me. You have to be to still be willing to offer the olive branch to Ritz and the CC8. If the Memphis side was willing to negotiate earlier I wish they could have put it in the press. Also it is too bad their meeting was 'closed door' which I think is against the Shelby County law for 'official business' and we didn't have anyone recording what went on. That being the case I still go by my post on 4/23/2013 at 12:39am dealing with Ritz. Adding to that how does one be civilized with a rattlesnake? I know that's an insult to rattlesnakes but it is what it is. Still I take my hat off to you for being the better person.

Do you know that when the Honorable County Commissioner Ritz and the rest of the CC8 die it is said that they have requested to be buried 12 feet deep. Do you know why?

Deep down every body is good.

Oldtimeplayer,
You must realize that as a nom de plume, you have no actual mother. This may or may not come as quite a relief to you actual progenitor.
