im hittn it upppp!!!
The Red Snapper Monterrey is wonderful and on Wednesday night there is the smooth but edgy jazz and standards from the 40s, 50s and 60s (and contemporary) with Gary Johns (vocals), Tony Thomas (piano genius) in the illustriously talented quintet.
This story tops all of your stories about poor service hands down.
Tonight, my friend and I went to Onix. Our waiter dropped an entire martini on my friends really beautiful dress. While the waiter was apologetic, he was not in a position to do much and said that he would send the manager over.
We waited for a half hour. The manager never came out. The owner of the restaurant came into the restaurant and heard about what happened and apologized. He said he would comp the entire bill. When we went to leave, a bill did arrive, so my friend asked what gives and asked for someone to notate that they would cover her dry cleaning on the check very politely.
The waiter said that the owner of the restaurant had left the premesis and the manager was too busy to come out. We could clearly see the owner still sitting inside. The manager never came out.
My friend very calmly went inside. THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT CALLED HER AN ASS FOR ASKING FOR THEM TO NOTATE THEY WOULD PAY HER DRY CLEANING. She wasn't rude and didn't ask for anything special.
What kind of restaurant owner calls a calm patron who has eaten their dinner in a wet dress an ass? Unconscionable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Allea, I can clear it right up for you....Joe used to do great shows and sometimes he would do not so great shows (because of his attitude). I have seen enough to know. He is charming, good looking, and a great entertainer, he will give you all his attention, especially if you are an attractive woman. But he risked everything a year and a half ago or so and I assume it has gotten him where he is today. I hope he is doing well.
My girlfriend goes to each show of Joe Kents once a month here in Paducah,KY at Casa Mexicana. I have been with her twice and have enjoyed the show very much. Joe is very respectful not only to the adults in the audience but especially to the young children. What my girlfriend and I are trying to figure out is why the negative comments are on here. Did something happen at one of his shows or are people creating rumors just to be heard. Could someone please clear this up for us.
Great food and service. The menu is outstanding.
I give it a solid 3/5. I'm not exactly sure why the other reviewers had such negative experiences but as a Loose Goose regular I'll venture my best guess. Yes, this is a small bar catering to a small (mostly white) group of people but I have seen people of color there and nobody has hated the jews since 1950. It looses a star for having an extremely limited selection of beer (compared to Flying Saucer across the street - Loose Goose only has domestic light beers). Another star is lost because on certain nights, depending on the staffs inebriation, the Loose Goose can be very unfriendly towards outsiders - people outside of the group who usually frequents the bar. My biggest complaint is the lack of full sized pool tables. If you have quarter tables get a change machine!
My Jewish friend was called a ki** and told to get out. I'll be sure to contact our Jewish community. No wonder that place is empty
As a black man dating a white woman in a city with such a racial prejudice I am used to the strange looks from some people. But never had I had one act on it. Tonight we tried loose goose it was ok at first until some drunk woman at the bar said i was stealing and my girl better find a clean man. ive never been so embarassed and im not a criminal. mixed and black couples avoid loose goose unless you want to see america before dr king.

The staff and owner are very rude. We got kicked out because they could not recognize a legitimate driver's license. My ID was thrown at me by the owner, and we were told to leave. I'm 22 and my friend is 24. UNACCEPTABLE.
I agree that Coletta's has THE best pizza in Memphis! The BBQ is my wife's favorite, but I think the sausage and mushroom has some kind of ingredient that is addictive. I've been hooked on it since 1975, the first time I ate it. I love the atmosphere at the old place, but the Appling location has really stepped up and become my favorite.
Southern Roots kind of place with eye candy bartenders... Its a REAL Memphis Thang!!!!
great beer of course- best hamburger and fries i have ever had! not kidding!
I ate there today, and WOW! The bread was not the wheat I ordered, rather a stale version of a white hoagie. The Cruiser is supposed to have Thousand Island on it, but a very thin layer of mayo on one side of the bun was all that was on there. I don't even like mayo, but wished there'd been more for moisture. As it was, I took everything off the dry, crumbly bread, and ate it open faced. I hope I was there on an off day. The positive is that the deviled egg was good.
excellent service in bar area
food excellent as well
David is outstanding
When does the server dictate how much and when you tip, had a bad experience with Waiter BOBBY, where we come from you tip at the end of the evening and you give what your server deserves, anyway after the second round, he informs us that we can get our own since we didn't tip. Needless to say we spent our money and tips somewhere else, where the service was great, left a $50 when we left, sorry BOBBY. The singers and piano players also complain about how much tip. Sound like they need to find new jobs.
very well done. the shrimp 4 ways is a great dish
Been there and enjoyed a beer or two and watched the game. Good Chili.
Re: “The Bar-B-Q Shop”
Live close by and have given them more than enough chances to change my mind. Each time (to go and sit down) I've been here with friends or family, we were treated as if we were being tolerated or we should feel lucky they allowed us through the door. There are so many options for BBQ in Memphis and many places where the food is better and the service is MUCH better. Too many options in this city that would treat you like they appreciate your business. I will not be back and will advise any/everyone I know to just pick somewhere else....anywhere else.
