Lovely article - one of the best things I've recently read, and by far the most useful. Has anyone ever wondered how to fill out forms online? I have, and found a simple service. Just look at the service https://goo.gl/vJJKfg. Its pretty easy to use. I think you can get a free trial if you ask for it.
HOORAY!!!! GO CABIGAO FAMILY! This is very good news for everybody who eats, especially if they have looked into how it gets to the table and what it does for our bodies :) So looking forward to coming to your new place!
The LGBTQ liaison needs a liaison.
acre restaurant, its soo good
Is everybody in Cordova named LaDouche? Sorta' like Kim in Korea? Or Nguyen in Vietnam?
Oh thank goodness, this sounds like a dream. Finally, a person in place that can actually do the job.
The Redbirds have to have the highest tickets sold/actually show up percentage in the PCL. When I'm at AZP and the crowd is listed at 4,000, it actually appears to be 4,000 and not 7 or 8k like other minor league teams announce. 4k is a great weeknight crowd. As for comparing a playoff crowd to a Saturday crowd, well, it's the minor leagues. I've heard numerous GM's say they would prefer not to make the playoffs because it's pretty much impossible to drum up much support on a day or two notice. Plus a minor league game is really the experience and not the game itself. Nobody really leaves upset if the Redbirds lose. AZP continues to provide an incredible game experience for fans and families. 16 years later the park still feels brand new.
Craig Unger (the GM) is still new to this area. He's getting a good feel for the market. He's learning. However I feel he could even further improve the gate by advertising, either with this paper or the CA. Many people still have no idea when the games are or what the promotions are. The Redbirds pretty much exclusively use the 'free' stuff, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. I just don't think that reaches very far compared to good ole print advertising and is not nearly as effective. Finally, the Redbirds need to stop the Saturday night bag searches upon entering. This is a minor league team. A bag of Dollar Tree peanuts isn't going to change the bottom line. I've seen more 'ill will' and bad pr created by these 'gestapoish' searches. They need to stop. Most major league teams will let you bring in small food items.
This will be a great addition to the dining scene in Memphis, and that area of town. D.C. has a wealth of wonderful vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Can't wait for Zaka to open!
Aside from the cultural & historical relevance of The MSC, there is a viable market for a 10k seat indoor arena in the Memphis market for both private and public events. The "First Right of Refusal" Clause with The Grizzlies is dated and will be irrelevant in a few years. Its a largely misunderstood clause with many loopholes in it regarding other local venues hosting events. This issue is not all about nostalgia. Its about bringing jobs and money BACK to a city that desperately needs both.
Will not see.
Wrestling needs to come back to The Coliseum! It's Memphis history and would be a shame and horrible business move not to. The demographic and demand is there as many small independent shows have been running on and off in Memphis since The Coliseums' closing has shown us. So do what is best for business and public demand. Bring wrestling back to Memphis.
Notice how I'm holding that tree up.
From the new draft of rules "you shall not make personal, slanderous, impertinent, or profane remarks to any member of council, staff, or public"... um sorry, I guess Memphis City Council has never heard of the 1st Amendment. They should always be willing to hear what actual citizens of our city are honestly thinking. Even if they feel like they have to yell or call out someone in particular. "First they take away your speech..." what will they do next?
What about the airshow? Cant that be kept in the program?
Heartbreaking job. Good luck.
Tax dollars shouldn't support discrimination and ignorance. Maybe you should just leave, if you think this behavior is acceptable.
The Pyramid was an expensive joke..
The MSC is not the unconscious center of the universe, just asking folks to consider the alternatives and keep an open mind.
Impressive and appropriate credentials. Hopefully, this type of hiring, i.e., that based on proven experience and skills, will continue under the new administration. Even better would be a thorough housecleaning of all the overpaid, unnecessary and/or unskilled cronies left over from prior mayors' administrations. Maybe Memphis could again form an independent Park Commission (which Herenton destroyed so he could control more city functions and hand out more patronage jobs).
