We happened upon this restaurant after arriving in Memphis located across the street from Graceland we wanted to grab a bite to eat. Nice atmosphere, but let me tell you this,I could not believe the restaurant offered free entertainment? Tim Rowland, Elvis impersonater, was totally awesome! MY wife and me were totally mesmerized by this stunning performance of Tim. A true professional, who no doubt should be billed in Las Vegas. His song choice was phenominal. His interaction with the audience was warm and superb. He even walked about handing out small presents like stuffed bears, and these lays which my wife was lucky enough to get one. His voice was excellent spot on. Wonderful and terrific! Don't miss this great show. By the way the food was fine , the staff was very obliging, and the desert was super.
Hey naysayers get a life, this is a fantastic show. I have played his CDs and many of my friends can't tell the difference from Tim Rowland to Elvis. I had a really great time in Graceland and truely enjoyed the exceptionally friendly Memphis hospitality, particulay with Mary and Belinda. I am coming back for sure.

83% of Tennessee voters polled agreed that "The presidential candidate who gets the most votes always should be the winner."
Every political demographic group across the state favors changing to a system driven by the popular vote, the poll showed.
When Republicans were asked, "How should the President be elected, by who gets the most votes in all 50 states or by the current winner-takes-all system?" 73% of them favored the popular vote.
Of all Democrats asked the same question, 78% favored the popular vote system.
When respondents who agree with Tea Party values were asked, 72% of them preferred the popular vote.

The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states (and DC).
Every vote, everywhere, would be politically relevant and equal in presidential elections. No more distorting and divisive red and blue state maps. There would no longer be a handful of 'battleground' states where voters and policies are more important than those of the voters in 80% of the states that now are just 'spectators' and ignored after the conventions.
When the bill is enacted by states with a majority of the electoral votes– enough electoral votes to elect a President (270 of 538), all the electoral votes from the enacting states would be awarded to the presidential candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and DC.
The presidential election system that we have today was not designed, anticipated, or favored by the Founding Fathers but, instead, is the product of decades of evolutionary change precipitated by the emergence of political parties and enactment by 48 states of winner-take-all laws, not mentioned, much less endorsed, in the Constitution.
The bill uses the power given to each state by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution to change how they award their electoral votes for President. Historically, virtually all of the major changes in the method of electing the President, including ending the requirement that only men who owned substantial property could vote and 48 current state-by-state winner-take-all laws, have come about by state legislative action.
In Gallup polls since 1944, only about 20% of the public has supported the current system of awarding all of a state's electoral votes to the presidential candidate who receives the most votes in each separate state (with about 70% opposed and about 10% undecided). Support for a national popular vote is strong among Republicans, Democrats, and Independent voters, as well as every demographic group in virtually every state surveyed in recent polls in recent closely divided Battleground states: CO – 68%, FL – 78%, IA 75%, MI – 73%, MO – 70%, NH – 69%, NV – 72%, NM– 76%, NC – 74%, OH – 70%, PA – 78%, VA – 74%, and WI – 71%; in Small states (3 to 5 electoral votes): AK – 70%, DC – 76%, DE – 75%, ID – 77%, ME – 77%, MT – 72%, NE 74%, NH – 69%, NV – 72%, NM – 76%, OK – 81%, RI – 74%, SD – 71%, UT – 70%, VT – 75%, WV – 81%, and WY – 69%; in Southern and Border states: AR – 80%, KY- 80%, MS – 77%, MO – 70%, NC – 74%, OK – 81%, SC – 71%, TN – 83%, VA – 74%, and WV – 81%; and in other states polled: AZ – 67%, CA – 70%, CT – 74%, MA – 73%, MN – 75%, NY – 79%, OR – 76%, and WA – 77%. Americans believe that the candidate who receives the most votes should win.
The bill has passed 31 state legislative chambers in 21 states with 243 electoral votes. The bill has been enacted by 9 jurisdictions with 132 electoral votes - 49% of the 270 necessary to go into effect.

I will definitely be there after last year's concert! Her new CD is #12 on the jazz charts and moving up. Such a unique voice, and plays piano like Bud Powell. A rare talent.
Memphis / the midsouth is very fortunate that this world renowned influential east coaster is coming to these parts. Here's what George Benson thought after first seeing Martino play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb8tgXi-hF4. Very highly recommended.

Robert Stephenson and Jayne Frank have raised the bar on antiques, art and accessories in Memphis. The opening was a great success. Thanks to the music provided by locals; Jim Duckworth and Jim Spake, who played an intimate set and made us all feel at home. The art, the museum quality antiques and the accessories are gorgeous. The crowd was filled with smiling faces of friends and family. This is more than an antiques store. RS Antiques and Art is becoming a staple for Memphis culture, art, decor, design and furniture.
Re: “Beyond”
Noir has never been assisted by color film.
Swedish film has always really needed to watch out about the intentional vomitus factor that it pushes or panders. Take, for instance one swedish film that I can't remember the name of. Therefore, no opportunity for a plug from me: George Cukor.
Because it really was wretched. So, I just forgot it.
However, the storyline started being potentially interesting from a scientific point-of-view because it was not so much esoteric. As it was simply a scripted version of the regularity and perhaps even real-life banality of a swedish gentry family who lived together in the same nice country house.
So, it defaulted itself nicely, I thought. There was the acceptible pre-scription which validated an acceptibility to noir. Therefore, the idea of the acting being good-or-not could be avoided due to the inescapability of script and ensemble.
Then there is just what was going-on in their lives.
Everything going fine for a film enthusiast so far. Then it started trying to make a point.
I was lost as to what it might be leading to. But in the end the grandmother of the house was apparently going to offer herself for destruction too the family because THEY ALL had decided she was of no use at all. So, the last scene involved her offering her body for sexual consumption by her family...and they did.
....FINI.
