Re: “Mural Project Brings Hope to Affluent Neighborhood

@Steve - Conceptually, life is merely a series of tubes, one connected to the other. So probing deeply, Anna Lingus is indeed related to Colonel Angus.

Can't begin to tell you how sad this makes one Memphis transplant to the Pacific Northwest.

Re: “CA's Jason Smith leaving to host 92.9 ESPN midday show

Yet another dismaying example of how bad things have gotten in print journalism: A part-time gig as a local sports radio talk show host is apparently more lucrative and maybe just all around better these days than a full-time position as an established newspaper reporter. Definitely wasn't the case 20-30 years ago. My have times have changed.

Re: “Homeless Advocates Protest, Demand Better Housing and LGBT Shelter

To the Citizens of Memphis,TN. I have read your story, I have this to say: I have lived in the City of Memphis several different times since May 1988 when I first moved to Memphis & started work for a Private Security Company that I worked for till July 1993. I know that the Living conditions for those of the LGBT community. I can't remember a day or time that Blame is Always placed at other Peoples Feet. I have Never played the Blame Game. The reason is that I accept Responsibility for the decisions & choices that I made that lead to my being homeless from late 2003 till early 2004. I left Memphis & the South & My Lifer done a 180 & has been much much better in All areas. The difference between the South & Memphis area & where I live now is as Different as Daylight & Nighttime. I have seen What the Residents of Section 8 Housing do & allow to be done to the property they re allowed to reside in. They Do Not Take Care of the Apt or other housing property's that were once available & in condition to be lived in Have Been DESTROYED by the people who lived their. I remember seeing Section 8 Property's empty & falling down because of disrepair. MHA should have or is being investigated for Misappropriation of funds like the Housing Authority of the City of Chicago was. I STRONGLY suggest to the People who are protesting Take a Look at Your Selves & How You Have Forgotten (if Ever were ) to take care of the Roof over Your Head As If It Was Your Very Own, Because IF You had to Replace or Repair the Dwelling out of Your Pocket instead of ALL Tax Payers Paying the Bill just as You do When You If You Ever Have to Purchase items that require to be paid for in cash & taxes are added. I would like to Close with This: God Helps Those Who Help Them Selves, I worked & acquired what I have By the Sweat of My Brow & Remember that My Parents worked & acquired what they had by the Sweat of their Brows as Sharecroppers till just after October 17, 1959. Remeber to Ask Your Selves this: WWJD?

Re: “Mural Project Brings Hope to Affluent Neighborhood

@Jeff:

According to local news, you should almost never leave the "safe place" in your house because of potentially bad weather. That cloud formation 500 miles away could be a monster when it gets here. Time to run to Kroger.

Hey Donna, stay off my grass!

Jeff,
I keep a bear trap just inside my bathroom door and a speargun in the shower with me and smell just fine.

Re: “Mural Project Brings Hope to Affluent Neighborhood

I watch local news, so I know the truth. There isn't just danger outside my neighborhood or even outside my door. There's danger under my bed! The only thing that keeps me safe is my local news team, who are always on my team, looking out for me, and my constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and firearms on my person at all times.

Though to be perfectly honest I am getting a little tired of cleaning the rust off my shower Glock. Maybe I'm bathing too often?

Ya gotta schmooze, John. Form a corporation, put them on the board, throw a party with wine and cheese, then ask them what color envelope they prefer for their kickbacks.

Re: “This Coarse Discourse

But would Trumpers as a block prefer any animate object (since voting for a chifforobe probably wasn't allowed by our foresighted forefathers) over Clinton.
We are left with hubris vs vanity and our only hope is some grand form of spontaneous combustion at the debate's opening handshake, or backstage embrace.

In case you're wondering, this is the part they call "Bait."

"Switch" comes after it's too late to change direction.

Re: “This Coarse Discourse

I don't know, Oak. Trump's appeal is Trump. Pence probably couldn't beat Bobby Jindal in a two-way presidential election. I doubt very many Trump fans are consciously aware of Pence beyond the bumper-sticker level.

If there's any confusion out there about this being Jonathan's idea, maybe this will help. It's a Memphis Flyer article from 2008 about the Memphis Art Park - something Jonathan had been working on for 2 years at that point... it's now 2016... http://www.memphisflyer.com/memphis/a-walk…

These all sound like normal nights to me lol. Nothing amazes me anymore. Except the night our music brought back a seemingly dead woman :)

I'm not sure that's much of a disincentive to Trump voters, Jeff.
