Re: “How to Fix Baseball

Once a batter steps into the batters box he shouldn't be allowed to step out, unless he's out, going to first or charging the mound since he got plunked. Likewise the pitcher should stay on the mound only leaving it between batters. Finally to eliminate the long walk from a reliever coming in the game from the outfield bullpen, bring back those cool golf carts with the oversized team hat on top to pick up the pitcher at the bullpen and deliver him to the mound FedEx quick.

Re: “Houston 72, Tigers 71

Nothing to say but win the AAC Tournament or stay at home. Unless you want a CIB or CBI berth. I don't even know which it is, that's how much I care about it.

Re: “UConn 65, Tigers 62

I just hope moving forward, that Tubby and his staff see how important it is to get those type of players into this urban University that can compete at a high level. I know he is a by the book guy, but you don't have to outright cheat to get players to Memphis, just be willing to stroke some egos.

Re: “UConn 65, Tigers 62

Salim, I agree. The chances are slim-to-none for the NCAAs. The way this season is looking, though, I'll be happy with the NIT. One step at a time...

Re: “UConn 65, Tigers 62

Yeah, Strait, you're right. My "How?" was also a comment on the season as a whole--not just this game. But, as for this game: There is NO good reason or excuse to blow a 17-point lead...NONE. I'm not throwing Tubby overboard. I know this is his first year and he has some work ahead of him; but, again, this blown lead was a horrendous display of basketball talent...or lack, thereof.

Re: “UConn 65, Tigers 62

David, I think the how is easy. Simply put, the Tigers don't have many -- if any!!! -- thoroughbreds. Not much firepower. It's been a long time since Memphis has trotted out a basketball team so bereft of raw athletes and/or skilled basketball players. But I don't blame it on Tubby Smith. At least not yet. Given him another or year or two to at least moderately upgrade the talent and continue to coach up that talent.

Re: “UConn 65, Tigers 62

Only hope for NC2A is win the conference tournament. And that is a very impossible long shot with limited players.

Re: “Temple 74, Tigers 62

David what I am saying, is that Dedric, KJ, Markel and Jeremiah have stepped their game up playing under Tubby Smith, but where is Craig Randall, Jake McDowell? So Tubby got 4 players to step up but those other 2 well they just aren't being coached right. I won't comment on Jamario, Keon, Chad (injured), Christian because they are first year players, so they can't be evaluated until after this season. Although, this is Christian Keesee's one and only season with Tigers. I will say Tubby is in a job that can get really good players. But is he willing to do what it takes to get them to the University of Memphis?

Re: “Temple 74, Tigers 62

Salim, is your comment a comment on mine? If so, it sounds as if you are making my point...the team has not developed as any of us had hoped. I'm not saying it's not a good team. I'm saying it's not a mature team--yet.

Re: “Temple 74, Tigers 62

Really? Someone comes on here to make a comment how it is on Tubby Smith with 4 players playing about 80% of the minutes, because the bench players aren't showing up. Even with what it has, this team should be a clear third team in the AAC. But some guys aren't living up to their youtube / fans hype videos. Truth is this team isn't a NC2A team this year. Next season and beyond Coach Smith and his staff need to bring in really good talent to win this league and gain an NC2A 3 to 5 seeded team.

Re: “Temple 74, Tigers 62

We've been hearing all season about the Tigers lack of talented depth due to massive defections under the previous head coach plus very little recruiting success his last couple of years. Today that all became painfully obvious. Tubby has done wonders with the hand he was dealt, unfortunately today the lack of skilled talent past about two and a half players was very apparent. It'll be better next season, and better the year after that.

Re: “Temple 74, Tigers 62

This was, undoubtedly, one of the single worst efforts I have seen from a Tiger team in many, many years. And, as much as I hate to say it, it all falls on Tubby Smith. I have not seen much development of the team over the season. That is not to say there are not great players, but no one seems to have stepped forward and said, "I want to lead this team." If Tubby can not develop the team into a cohesive unit and help one of these young men develop into a leader (if, in fact, anyone wants to do that), then we are in for some lean times...

Re: “2017 Memphis Tigers Football Schedule

I love that three out of the last four games are at home, with that bye week thrown in. We've got a pretty good-looking home schedule this year. Assuming we open strong against LA-Monroe and UCF, the UCLA game will get a lot of national attention. GO TIGERS!

Re: “2017 Memphis Tigers Football Schedule

Agree. The Thursday night opener seems odd. Surely the athletic department has been led to believe that there's a good chance the game will be televised. Otherwise, why play on a Thursday? Regardless, I'll be there for every home game and at least one or two road games. Can't wait!

Re: “2017 Memphis Tigers Football Schedule

Nicely balanced with the bye week on the backside of the schedule. I do wonder why the opener is a Thursday night? It's not for tv. That seems like it will hurt attendance some. There has to be a reason. I'm really curious what it is.

Re: “Tigers 66, Tulsa 44

My opinion is, take Keesee off the ball. He is not a point guard. Get him coming off of picks for open 3's. Set him up against zones as a spot up shooter. I know Coach Smith knows more about the game than I do, but sometimes advice can come from places you aren't looking. Tigers need scoring, Keesee is a scorer from outside, not a point guard. IMO

Re: “Grizzlies 89, Spurs 74: Vince Carter’s Block Party

It may or may not be used this way, but Parsons is a classic case of how I think the Grizzlies should use the new Southaven D-League team in the future.

Parsons is like a pitcher returning from Tommy John's. He needs some minor league starts to regain his form and comfort. Right now, he's a liability in games that actually matter. He needs to be playing minutes that don't matter, and he could do that for the D-League team. Shipping him to Iowa would seem a little bit much, but if the team was in Southaven, as it will be next year, it's not as big of a stretch, because he can still practice with the big club while playing minutes with the D-League team.

Regardless, it's getting close to the point where that decision is going to have to be made on Parsons. Once we get to playoff time, if he's not right, he has to sit. It's one thing to try to work him back into shape during regular season games, but when we get down to playoff time, if he's still a liability, he needs to be shut down until next year.
