Re: “Hadley's Pub

The food is amazing. The staff very friendly. If you have not been there in a few years, you need to check it out. They have daily throwback specials such as Hot Wings with REAL buffalo sauce, Steak nite at $5.99 for a ribeye and taters, Philly Steaks for $3.00 but even when it's not throwback night...The food is very good and price is excellent. My only complaint is I can't take them to Texas with me when I move!

Re: “Interim

All of these reviews are OLD. If you haven't been to Interim since Chef Dave Krog took the helm back in March2016, you've missed an exciting meal. He has raised the bar on creativity and flavor, especially the constantly changing fresh fish. All of the sauces/ stocks, dressings are house made by Dave and his team. Dave expects the best of his team and they deliver under his imagination and creativity. Give it a try if you've been away for a while, you will be well pleased. Don't pass up the desserts, French pastry Chef Franck Oysel is creative and extremely talented.

Re: “Jazz-A-F!RE: The Chocolate Cabaret

chocolate cabaret was the best local entertainment in a very long time. That was the type of entertainment seen only on broadway and international permformances. Something I don't think Memphis is ready for..

Re: “Elvis Tribute Artist, Brian Lee Howell

This Brian Lee Howell looks the the retarded version of Elvis. Does Memphis actually endorse him? Elvis must have rolled over in his grave or something.

Re: “Bayou Bar & Grill

Hole in the wall. Stay away from this place! It's has become horrible!
I have been a customer for years prior to the move on Madison. The last few times I visited was less than par for any restaurant. My recent visit was the worst. It was a bit after 11 PM Saturday night. The place is dingy, dark, and dirty. We found a beach towels soaking up a floor spill under our table. We moved to another table that needed to be wiped. I kept asking for a bar towel to wipe table, but the server was more interested in taking my initial drink order. I insisted on a towel and eventually got it clean enough to order. I ordered the Grouper Po-Boy. I seemed OK at first, but as I was rounded third, something had a different texture in my mouth. It was freaking chewing gum. Yes, someone else chewed gum in my mouth. I felt nauseous. I wanted to puke right there. I asked to speak with the manager. The dude behind the bar. He never came over to see me, but he was walking all over the restaurant. I went to the bar and asked to speak with him. I told him what I found in my sandwich. He as was I insulting his intelligence? I felt like he was insulting mine in stated. He had no concern what just happened to me what-so-ever. I was livid but calm all the while saying to my self WTF. My Marine Corps instinct was kicking in, I decided to leave so Mr. bartender/manager could make it home alive. This is a very unprofessional place that does not deserve to be on Madison Ave. Steer clear of this hole in the wall.

Re: “Marijuana Law Passes First Hurdle in Council

@mejjep - The net effect here, will be that fewer African American young people will end up with an incarceration on their record. Because regardless of the prevalence of usage amongst people of all ethnicities, the people who end up in jail for it, tend to be young African American men.

So Boyd is right. If we can avoid labeling these non-violent offenders as felons, the long-term effect will be to give them a better chance of ending up contributing to society, instead of just becoming fodder for the prison-industry complex.

I don't think anybody is saying that smoking marijuana, which we know causes a decrease in motivation and accomplishment, is a good plan for adolescents and young adults. The real issue, is what societal trajectory these lives are going to take after running into the justice system.

If we can push them more towards a productive outcome, instead of turning them into career criminals, that is most definitely a good thing.

Re: “Greensward Plaintiffs: Boyd's Statement 'Not True,' 'Completely False'

C'mon Berlin. You have such potential to do so much good for this town. Please stop mischaracterizing the OPC citizen activists. They aren't going to back down just because you try to act like a bully. It'll just piss 'em off. In the end, all you'll do is damage your reputation.

And I know for a fact you're a better man than that.

Re: “Marijuana Law Passes First Hurdle in Council

"I want to make a difference in the lives of poor African Americans in this city." — Berlin Boyd

And he really feels this is the best way to start that initiative? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it, for all citizens, regardless of their race. It just seems to me there are much, much more important things that need to be done in order to "make a difference", than this.
