OtherArea: Of the City? Colonial Acres
I was going to go with 2003 and 2004, but my gut told me we'd had consecutive 9-win seasons in the more distant past.
Game 7 of 2006 was especially memorable for me, and not just because of the heroics described above: I was watching the game at my brother's house, where my then-4-month-old nephew slept just a room away from us. To keep from waking him, we watched the game with the sound muted and tried as hard as we could not to yell and shout; thus, after Wainwright threw his third strike to Beltran, my brother and I bounced around the room and off each other--in utter silence.
Oops, I just realized I answered only half of the question...don't recall the team, just that Dempsey's first season started well.
I'm going to take a stab and say Ray Dempsey before Google proves me wrong.
Nicely put, Frank. Yesterday's season-ending loss provided that sickening feeling I've long associated with the end of Tiger basketball season; in other words, I was emotionally invested in the outcome and the team. I think thousands of others felt the same way. Go Grizz!
1992-93 - Vaughn, Hardaway, and B. Smith?
Re the legality issues, we have had bottles of wine shipped to us from CA...like you, we had to show proof of age and provide a signature but experienced no trouble at any stage of the transaction. I'll continue to take the calculated risk, I think.
Thanks for the links and the tips!
