Re: “Fincher: 2nd Amendment Aimed at Government

Tell it to the judge. If you take up arms against a legitimately elected government, expect to be treated as the criminal you are.

Re: “Gulf remains as TPC, Suburban Mayors Meet Regarding Schools

Bruce, my comments are directed more at the folks who hate the city of Memphis (which I don't) but somehow think they can move all the good folks to west Fayette County and everything will be ok. It won't be. But you're right, amigo, at this point, I'm not adding value to this comment board, I'm just venting. It's best I vamoose. I've enjoyed it.

Re: “Gulf remains as TPC, Suburban Mayors Meet Regarding Schools

joe, look at the trends, this region is losing its most educated people every day to other metro areas. St. Jude can barely recruit here and can't keep people after their contracts are up. That trend is ACCELERATING, not declining. America's Distribution Center is a recipe for a downscale economy. Memphis is one of the loser metro areas and Nashville is one of the winners. People are net moving FROM Memphis metro TO Nashville in droves. Vesta Home Show, hellenic? What has that got to do with the average income levels, education levels, and wealth levels of the counties all around Memphis in its trade area? Ever driven around Panola County? marshall County? Haywood County? Crittenden County.
I don't hate Memphis, I'm just leaving it. For me it's not worth fighting for. But those of you still vested in it ought to face up to the realities of this area.

Re: “Gulf remains as TPC, Suburban Mayors Meet Regarding Schools

Comanche, here's the fatal flaw in your theory, and the one that will eventually sink this whole region: the areas outside of the urban and suburban core of Memphis are much poorer than even Memphis itself, the areas around Nashville are MUCH more robust economically than the simialr areas around Memphis. It's cotton and soybean farms around here.
The trend here has been playing out for 20 years and it won't stop. The educated skilled people are leaving, not just Memphis, but the entire area, and they are being replaced (if at all) with an inflow of less educated and poorer people from the surrounding areas.
Keep whistling past the graveyard and thinking that roads (lmao) will make the difference. What a hoot.
