What the hell is he talking about? There's a Chilton tribute at The Levitt Shell on May 15th.
Just wanted to say thank you for the great write up on my great Uncle Watson. I'll be at the Brooks tonight for sure. I saw it was at 6pm, not 7 elsewhere but either way I'll be there and so will my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. I only met Watson a handful of times when were kids visiting my Great Grandmother in Clarendon, AR. I didn't know about Sivad til much later down the road thanks to people like yourself, Mike, and Beifuss who write about him and put on events like this and also the guys who did the tribute book (they were nice enough to personally drop off a copy for me) and others who have kept his contributions to Memphis and the Mid-South culture alive. This was such an informative write up and I'm saving the hard copy and will eventually have it framed.
Over the last several years I've found out a ton of my Memphis family history that I never really knew or didn't pay much attention to when I was younger. My Aunt worked at Ardent in the 70's and Chilton wrote a couple songs about her on Radio City, my Uncle Buddy played guitar for Target, my other Uncle started Ardent with Fry when they were 15, my Grandfather (Watson's brother) played and recorded trumpet with James Brown, Elvis, Little Milton, Albert King, The Staple Singers, The Box Tops, William Bell and many more notable musicians that I probably don't even know about.
Once again, thank you for keeping Watson's memory alive.
Thanks for sharing Bruce. I would not have been able to keep my mouth shut.
