Excited to hear about the Sushi Jimmi location. I was hoping that location would not stay empty. And it's near me!
"But the promise is still there...and, if all goes as planned, more opportunities for Memphians." Yes, I do hope we will see more opportunities for ALL Memphians. Not sure how all these projects are addressing the crippling cycle of poverty that affects a large portion of the citizens in Memphis. Would love to see a story about organizations and projects that are working for that sort of change.
Also, I see Crosstown Concourse pictured on the cover and in the illustration accompanying the article. Crosstown Concourse is, of course, in CROSSTOWN (part of Midtown) and not downtown (or the Edge or Medical District). It makes for a great cover picture, though!
"The DMC redeveloped the James Lee House in Victorian Village into a bed and breakfast." Huh??? I do believe it was José and Jennifer Velázquez who spent $2 million to renovate and transform the James Lee House, as the Flyer reported here: http://www.memphisflyer.com/NewsBlog/archi…
"We want Crump"?! That's an interesting Memphis-influenced Freudian slip!
I still miss Po' Folks. I have fond memories of going there in my youth. Apparently they are only in Florida now (and one in Lower Alabama): http://www.pofolks.net/locations.aspx
