midtown! where it's at!
traffic is a problem as the plan must be changes as it is. city is not happy with entrance too close to the intersection on cooper. cooper entrance must be moved or changed to right in/ right out meaning no left turn while heading north on cooper into CVS and no left turn from CVS to head north on cooper. just right turn. Flynn and Strickland did a great job as they were informed. the others... uninformed/ disinterested/ only focused on so-called property rights. we don't have 100% property rights, guys. there are always restrictions. CVS and Wilkins have been heavy-handed and clueless. Haphazardly pasting things on hoping to pass the board. OPD, LUCB, Flynn and Strickland all said "no" because they took the time to be informed. the other ones couldn't be bothered. CVS has saved historic homes (St Louis) and facades (Mass.) but didn't bother here.

MATA needs to get their s**t together. i take the trolley downtown to musicfest yesterday and find out that they are running on the usual Sunday schedule. what the hell? I leave the car at home, walk 3/4 of a mile to last stop on the madison line and have a great ride downtown. i later find out that there no trolleys back to midtown afterwards? what the hell? nobody thought to change service? is anyone surprised that MATA is in trouble with their crappy routes and trolley-as-amusement park ride approach? whomever the hell runs MATA needs to just go work at the post office. how about taking the trolley seriously? how about ad sales? i know about the river arts fest on the side of the cars on main street line. it was in October!!! who the hell is running the show???
it's not ok to just go through a partner's things. people absolutely need personal space so i agree with some previous posts. i wonder just how much this person thinks they are entitled to do. spy on partner? track his moves and check up on him? if there's a trust issue on either end sit down and talk about it but don't get all suspicious and controlling. sounds like there are a few apologies to be made here...
thank you bruce! this is so true. it can be frustrating to see all of this unenlightened hatred out there. it's funny/disheartening to see people bash what they don't understand and/or are secretly suppressing. trying to be honest with people can be so difficult when they instantly hate you for what you believe in or the way you were born.
anyone who can spout the kind of hatred almost arbitrarily at someone different from themselves is almost impossible to understand. i briefly knew matthew shepard when i lived in north carolina before he moved out west and how anyone can send that much hate in his direction is just uncomprehensible.
Mellow Mushroom is good. a small chain, but good. went to the one in Raleigh, NC years ago and wouldn't mind seeing one in in my neighborhood. midtown can use as many viable businesses as we can get. in the meantime, go to the location out east so we can lure one down here. good job, guys. a success story in any neighborhood is a success for our city...
they sure picked an oddball location at madison near marshall but let's go visit and support them! better than the crappy grocery stores in my area (madison and belvedere)
Mary, I would love to gather and write the information on the January 16th meeting. Though my opinion is pretty much in line with Memphis Heritage (and many other midtown residents) I assure you that you will receive unbiased, fact- based information. Journalism classes at the U of M and NC State University, though several years ago, taught me how to manage such a task. I can possibly find a use for my real estate and architecture knowledge that does not involve boring my friends.
