Just out:Unemployment claims went UP by 10,000 since last week although Feds were expecting claims to go down. Instead they increased to 455,000. Also, the price of oil surged up over $100/ barrel again today.
Yeah, Johnny, now that 6.1% of us and rising have lost our jobs, home foreclosures continue to skyrocket, gas will be back to $4 a gallon, which means inflation on food and everything else will continue to rise, everything is fabulisimo. Herbert Hoover was the greatest president in history, too! What's your sand source? Kid's backyard box? Golf course? Ashtray?
When the economy was great during Clinton's adminstration,Republicans gave all the credit to Reagan even though Reagan's supply side/trickle down economy ran up some of the biggest deficits and put us in deep debt. Although Clinton inherited a recession from Bush the Elder, turned the recession around and got us out of debt, Republicans gave credit to Reagan, even though he had not held office for years. Now that Dubya has ruined the economy, and although Clinton has not been in office for seven years, Republicans are blaming Clinton for this disaster. Republicans are pathelogically unable to accept reality. It would be amusing, were it not that the rest of us have had to suffer their insanity.
Rantboy-It's called The Great Depression, the Sequel. War, $10 trillion national debt, runaway inflation, skyrocketing unemployment, devaluation of real estate, record bankruptcies, record foreclosures, devalued currency, = bank failures = economic collapse. It's a wonderful life. Thank you, Republicans!
Cohen came off as a total sell-out. What was up with that mea culpa from Steve? And what was up with that baldhawk when he was on the House Floor?
Mediaobserver-the only thing this column and the Mad as Hell column lack are lies. Sorry you can't handle the truth, buddy. I do not consider either of the writers to be anything but factual and truthful. If you live and die by FOX news and RNC talking points, then of course, this stuff gets under your skin. Reality usually does rub Republicans the wrong way.
Word has come that McCain's camp has sequestered Palin and wants everything she says to the media, except for certain high profile interviews to be off the record. Looks like McCain is scared to death of his incompetent fool saying anything for fear she will come off as the hayseed she is. The Economist, a publication not known for its liberalism, has an editorial out that says Palin is "the least qualified VP selection in history".
They questioned McCain's judgement in picking someone clearly so incompetent. McCain can't run on the issues so he plans to damn the torpedoes and smear Obama while feigning phony outrage. John McCain didn't get the nickname McNasty for nothing.
That piece was posted in The Nation magazine, most definitely not picked up by the cable network media. Of course, this ultra-secretive network works in hiding and does not the media to know when or where they meet. Do we smell just a whiff of the 'f' word here???
