This sounds like a wonderful project; I look forward to reading updates on their efforts!
I drive down Riverside on my way to work every morning, and passing by this monstrosity is certainly the low-point of my commute. What was beginning to look like a lovely, rolling, clean addition to the skyline now appears to be some horrible joke rising from the mound. It does resemble LEGOs, but without that fun "ooo I want to go over there and play" feeling.
A fantastic idea; kudos to all who were a part of the project!
Event update from Literacy Mid-South: "Literatini is officially SOLD OUT. Tickets will unfortunately not be available at the door. However, you can still join us at Booksellers at Laurelwood from 6-9pm to shop! Literacy Mid-South will receive 20% of all sales tonight from the bookstore and 10% from the Bistro. Stop in and say hello!"
Don't want to officially give a star status/review until I go back for dinner, but sad to say I wasn't thrilled with my lunch I tried today. I got the grilled chicken salad, approx $9 , but only ate about half of the salad as all of the lettuce was just shredded iceberg. With such other great ingredients on top - chicken, broccoli, celery, cheese, cauliflower, etc, I was expecting some romaine or spinach or something a bit heartier and in line with the price for a main dish salad. The chicken was served warm on top, so by the time I made the short walk back to my office with the to-go order, the cheese had been melted and the whole salad was warm and a bit squishy.
But the building is beautiful, great location, wonderful staff - so again, keeping my hopes up and will certainly return to try the dinner menu...I'll try a pastry on the side :)
What a fantastic program! It is so wonderful to hear about such positive, community-enhancing projects in Memphis; and that is has been so well supported and received!
