Re: “Urban Farms Farmers Market

Offering a variety of locally-grown and responsibly-purchased produce, meats, baked goods, and more, this neighborhood market is a vital asset to all of Memphis.

Re: “Crosstown Concourse Apartments Now Available for Rent

Just a few years ago I rented an apartment on Cleveland down the street from Crosstown, across from the high school: 2 bedroom, W/D, hardwood floors, high ceilings, lovely balcony, and about 1,000 square feet, for less than $800 a month. OccassionalMemphian is absolutely right that the condition of the area simply does not warrant such incredibly high prices at the Parcel... the area is NOT downtown, or the heart of midtown, and from what I've heard/read has not improved much in the way of amenities or safety over the past several years. It appears they are trying to sell the idea of what the location WILL hopefully be in many years to come after more growth/development, with one heck of a steep buy-in price. Really do hope it does well without disrupting the lives of the many nearby residents who will not be able to afford rising housing costs, but is that ever possible?

Re: “Council Members Seek to Give Majority of Greensward to Zoo

Great. Now I've got that "They Paved Paradise and Put Up a Parking Lot" song stuck in my head. So very 90s, Memphis.

Re: “Big River Crossing Construction Begins on Harahan Bridge

Spending money on recreation is lovely but completely undeserved in a city that cannot appropriately take care of its police and fire services, has one of the most underfunded and poor-performing public school systems, deplorable public transportation options, and poverty rates and illiteracy rates and infant mortality rates that rival some the poorest countries, to name just a few glaring issues. Pretty bike lanes simply are not what will attract and keep educated people with disposable income in the area.

Re: “The Rubik's Cube on Top of Beale Street Landing

I drive down Riverside on my way to work every morning, and passing by this monstrosity is certainly the low-point of my commute. What was beginning to look like a lovely, rolling, clean addition to the skyline now appears to be some horrible joke rising from the mound. It does resemble LEGOs, but without that fun "ooo I want to go over there and play" feeling.
