You may have already discussed, but what's up with Sam Young? Why can't he get minutes anymore? Does the staff think Pondexter is just better or is he in the dog house? I don't get it.
Did this really happen...
Shane Battier, a #2 Overall Pick and a #5 Overall pick
5 year older Shane Battier, Josh McRoberts and a swap in mid 1st rd picks with the Pacers
1 : Draft Shane Battier
2 : Trade Shane Battier for Stromile Swift
3 : Trade Swift for Jason Collins
4 : Draft Kevin Love #5 Overall
5 : Trade Collins and Kevin Love for OJ Mayo
6 : Draft Hasheem Thabeet #2 Overall
7 : Trade Mayo for Josh McRoberts and Pacers #1
8 : Trade Thabeet and Grizzlies # 1 for Battier
The problem is this could have come at a worse time. Check out this upcoming schedule. I really think this changes us from a 46-47 win team to a 39 win team.
Total 488-272 64.2%
So how does this team get better? Obviously, a lottery pick is ideal, but unlikely. This means we have to really find some diamonds in the rough with our other picks. I can't see us making a play in free agency and if we over pay for Gay it will set us back for a few years. What's the play here? I wouldn't mind us taking a shot at Bledsoe for the back up PG role.
Villanueva got 5 years 40 mil. Gay is worth a little more. If they really have 5 and 50 on the table, he needs to sign in a hurry.
We have so many good options. The Grizz will come out with a quality player. I think Clips take Griffin based on Dunleavy's comments and we go ahead and take Rubio. Then we try to trade for a 4 and hope to pick up someone like Hansborough at 27 that could be a high energy 4 off the bench.
I feel like the only way I will be truly unahappy is if we stay at 2 AND take Thabeet. If we trade down and get some quality players and end up with Thabeet, at least we didn't reach and have some other players to think about.
