Yeah, this blows... they might as well just come out and say "Thabeet is our guy" so I can skip Vernon's draft party to work on finding a new NBA team to follow.
Time to update the blog Herrington.... Tillery is saying that Boston, Houston and the Knicks are interested in the pick. Also, tons of reports have come out about New York wanting to do a sign and trade with David Lee.
Ok, I'm more on board with trading the pick, but only inside the top 5 or 6. If that only leaves us with dealing with the Kings then so be it. I'd much rather have Thompson and the 4th over Speights and the 17th just for lottery pick reasons. Hopefully at that point Rubio and Thabeet would be off the board and the Grizzlies would be forced to pick between Curry, Reke and Harden.
I can't say I am sold on Harden, but I can see a Paul Peirce comparison now that you mentioned it. I also have concerns with Curry's size playing aside Conley and Mayo. Now, I am a huge Tigers fan, but I am not a homer when it comes to former Tigers playing for the Grizzlies. Talent wise I would love to see him playing in Memphis again. I just do not know how he, OJ and Rudy can all coexist? Are their enough balls to go around? I know it is not on the same level, but when I think about the potential lineup it brings the Suns to mind with Marion, Johnson, Nash. I know Nash is not the same player has anyone on the Grizzlies, but at some point these 3 guys might want to be out of the others shadow. Getting another scorer like Evans could push Rudy out the door come contract time. I guess that is something like you said that will work itself out. Maybe we can lock them all in a room and in a couple years just see what happens, right?
All in all, I would love to see Reke still in Memphis. It would be nice to have either him or Rudy flourish in that 6th man role seeing that the Grizzlies need bench points pretty bad.
