Re: “Mapping the Draft: Take One

I like Luke Babbitt. I keep hearing the Chris Mullen comparison. If that's anywhere near true. We have to take him. We need a pure outside shooter.

Re: “The Iverson Dilemma: Logic Doesn't Live Here Anymore

There's a reason that the Grizzlies were the only team to offer AI a contract. We've seen it after only one game. He's not a "team" guy. He's a "me" guy. It sets a dangerous precedent to have a player of AI's caliber questioning authority (coaching) on a team full of 22 year old and 23 year old players. A player like AI could become a "cancer" in a locker room full of young impressionable players. We have a very young, promising and exciting team. Top ten in offense and rebounding already. I'd hate for one player to come in and mess up the Grizzlies bright future. Obviously the other NBA franchises felt the same way. Like I said, there's a reason that the Grizzlies were the only team to offer AI a contract.

Re: “Report: Grizzlies to Sign Marcus Williams

I like what the Griz have done this offseason. I think they will win at least 10 more games with their draft and free agent acquisitions. Ever since Pau was "given away", we have needed a legitimate low post scorer to work from the inside out. Zach is one of a handful of 20 and 10 players in the league. With our talent (Mayo, Gay, Conley) on the perimeter, Zach's offensive prowess will leave teams scratching their heads on how to defend such a prolific foursome. The drafts picks will contribute immediately. I love the way Young and Carroll compete. Both of them will bring a toughness and competive edge that we hadn't seen since Posey and Battier were suited up as Grizzlies. Thabeet is going to be fine. Remember he's only played 6 years and has improved every year. It will take time for his offense to develop but like I said earlier we have a prolific foursome for offensive purposes already. Also, Carroll and Young are decent scorers. What Thabeet will bring is a defensive presence immediately. Most teams will think think twice before going in the lane once he's on the floor. That helps your overall team defense by limiting the other teams attack. Remember, Dwight Howard came into the league as a defensive specialist project as well. I believe drafting Thabeet will pay dividends for us now with even bigger dividends in the future. Go Griz!!!!!!
