Hey Bruce...nice try, but Wolfchase isn't a "suburban mall". It is within the Memphis city limits. Memphis annexed the mall area several years ago so that the city could capture the sales taxes from retail businesses in the area.
Hmm. Muslim immigrants from the breakaway republic of Chechnya. Who knew that such guys were so sympathetic to "Patriots Day"?
There seem to be a lot of people afflicted with Palin Derangement Syndrome reading (and writing for) the Flyer.
While it was unfortunate for Mr. Day and his family that the Commercial Appeal let him go, they had no choice. Because of declining revenues they had to reduce expenses, and since a large percentage of their expenses are headcount-related, they appropriately elected to reduce headcount by laying off their poorest performers. Bill Day was, is and likely always will be a political hack with no originality. His six most recent syndicated cartoons have focused on (1) Rush Limbaugh; (2) Rush Limbaugh (a second time); (3) Fox News; (4) George W. Bush; and (5) Republicans. A cursory glance reveals that he is small-minded--not big picture--focused primarily on anyone to the right of the extreme left. That would include the Blue Dog Democrats, simply because they have had the temerity to impede the leftist agenda of his idols, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. I much prefer the CA's current rotation of cartoonists, especially cartoons by Pulitzer Prize-winning (and former CA cartoonist) Michael Ramirez.
OK, so Rush has said that the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons, and he has said that Donovan McNabb was overrated, because "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well" (Bruce--your "liberal mass media" quote is a misquote). What else have you got? The man is on three hours a day, five days a week, 52 weeks a year, and has been on the air for over twenty years. There is more poisonous bile in wvfii's one sentence comment that Rush is a "hateful, fat, pilled-up hypocritical clown" than there is in a week's work of Rush's programs.
Hey Bruce--the majority of the American people wants no part of the hysterical left's fear-mongering, either.
