(sorry) I would only find out about their shows by scrolling their website or MAYBE seeing a poster at Otherlands. In college, I frequented the Orange Peel in asheville who posted monthly schedules at my small college over an hour away. I agree that Hi tone probably booked too many shows and that may have let their crowds suffer. I will certainly miss it very much, and shows like Tallest man on earth, the Lumineers, Dr. Dog, and Blitzentrapper were some of the best shows I have seen anywhere. I hope someone does rise up to take the torch. Was there to say what I hope to not be "goodbyes" at Shovels & Rope. I hope show-goers rise to meet the next challenge.
I certainly feel remorse about the closing and have long lamented the crowds that should be larger, but the HiTone is not blameless.
